Introduction
The Virtual Information Pack (VIP) - available from http://www.ecu.edu.au/student/commence/ -
will take you step by step through the information and actions needed to respond to your offer
and ensure you are able to complete your enrolment. You will need your Offer Notification letter
on hand for this process.

We recommend you read ALL the material on VIP carefully. This process will take
approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Should you require assistance with the VIP process,
we have included problem solving tips and/or contact numbers at each step.


Offer Letter
After you have applied for course at Edith Cowan University, you will receive the Offer Letter
with information of your Course Code, Attendance Type (full time/part time), Campus and
Student Number.




Use the Course Code and Student Number in the Offer Letter to accept, defer or reject your
course (as mentioned in Step 1, below).

You will also need your Student Number to activate your ECU Computer Login (as mentioned in
Step 2, below).

Note1: International students (onshore & offshore) and students who are enrolled in
Postgraduate, Honours or WAAPA courses cannot choose to defer their courses. They must re-
apply next semester.

Deferring Your Offer
The maximum period for deferral (for all courses) of an offer is 2 consecutive teaching periods,
provided the same is course is being offered during that intake.

Note2: International students (onshore & offshore) and students who are enrolled in
Postgraduate, Honours or WAAPA courses cannot choose to defer their courses. They must re-
apply next semester.

Step 2
Activating your ECU Computer Login

Click on “Step 2 - Activate Account”
You will be taken to:




When you click on the link to activate your account:




Click Submit

You will be taken to a page with Rules and Regulations on Computer Usage - click “I accept the
Terms and Conditions” (which will be located at the bottom of the page).

You will then be asked to set a password. Once you set the password you will get a table with
your username (login ID) and e-mail address.

Note2: once you set your password it may take up to an hour (depending on the traffic) for your
details to be added to the ECU Central Authentication System (CAS) so you may not be able to
login to the ECU Student E-mail immediately.

Step 3
Step 3 - contains information regarding Orientation, Information evenings, fees, scholarships
and obtaining student ID cards. It is necessary that you read through this section.

At ECU your whole student experience is important to us. We provide support even before
classes actually commence through our Orientation program. Two weeks before most classes
start there is an intensive Orientation period. We provide special preparation for study classes
(Unistart) on various days that are available for all students. Unistart includes vital hands-on
sessions to help you learn to use the computer resources at ECU and the library facilities, as
well as giving you an introduction to study skills. Orientation also includes Faculty Induction
sessions - containing important course information which you should not miss.

When you enter the course code, you will be taken to a page with the course details. Please
read through the instructions.

The page is divided into the following sections (please note some sections may not appear for
certain courses):

        Essential Requirements
            o Information regarding certification or documents for practical placements
        Enrolment Information
            o General course information will be provided here
        Advanced Standing
            o Information on advanced standing (recognition of prior learning) and how to
                obtain can be provided here
        Assistance Sessions
            o Sessions which you can attend and obtain assistance enrolling in units
        Induction Sessions
            o Sessions which you can attend and obtain course information
        Additional Information
            o Usually will have contact details of the faculty/school in which owns the course
