Scene 1

In Billy and Lilly’s house

Billy and Lilly enter left stage, trees enter right stage

Billy: Let’s go for a walk.
Lilly: No, it’s raining.
Billy: Let’s take an umbrella.
Lilly: OK. Let’s go.
Billy and Lilly take an umbrella and leave
Billy, Lilly:


Scene 2

In the woods

This is the way
we walk in the woods,
Walk in the woods
Walk in the woods
This is the way
we walk in the woods
On a rainy day in spring


Choir of trees:

This is the way
they walk in the woods,
Walk in the woods
Walk in the woods
This is the way
they walk in the woods
On a rainy day in spring
A tapping sound can be heard

Lilly: What’s this sound?
       What’s this sound?

Billy: Touch your ear to the ground.

Lilly: Look Billy.

Billy: Where?

Lilly: There!

A little man dressed in green appears. He is holding a hammer in one hand and a shoe in the
other

Billy: Who are you?
Leprechaun: I’m a leprechaun.

Leprechauns enter

Choir of Leprechauns:

We are leprechauns
We are green
In Irish woods
We can be seen


Choir of trees:

Leprechaun, leprechaun
Take a spade
Leprechaun, leprechaun
Get on your way!
Leprechaun, leprechaun
Take a spade
Leprechaun, leprechaun
Get on your way!


Choir of Leprechauns:

We are leprechauns
We are green
In Irish woods
We can be seen
Leprechaun puts away the hammer and takes a spade.

Leprechaun: I must go now.
Lilly: Where are you going?
Leprechaun: I can’t tell you. It’s a secret. Bye bye.

Leprechaun leaves. He walks slowly around the stage .
Then he stops near a tree.

Choir of Trees:

Follow the little green man
He’s got a pot of gold
The pot is under a tree.
Follow the man and see



Billy: Follow the little green man
Lilly: He’s got a pot of gold.
Billy: The pot is under a tree.
Billy, Lilly: Let’s follow the man and see.

Trees show the children the way.

Choir of trees:

First go straight
Then turn right
Next turn left
Look at the sky

Billy points at the rainbow

Billy: Look, Lilly! Can you see it?

Lilly: Yes! A rainbow!

Lilly, Billy:
Red and orange
Red and orange
Yellow, green and blue
Yellow, green and blue
What a pretty rainbow

What a pretty rainbow
It’s leading me and you
It’s leading me and you
Choir of trees:


Follow the rainbow
One, two, three
The pot of gold
is under a tree!

Billy and Lilly walk around the stage following the rainbow
Leprechaun is walking around a tree with a spade looking for his pot of gold

Leprechaun:

Where’s my pot? Where, oh, where?
I must dig, dig, dig, here and there


Leprechaun:
Here it is!
Let me count.

He digs out the pot and takes gold coins out of it one by one.
Leprechaun:
1, 2,3, 4,5,6,7…
Then he puts in another three coins.

Leprechaun: On, two three…
Seven and three is ten.
Ten coins! I’ve got ten gold coins!

Choir of Leprechauns:

Coins, coins, coins
Gold and round
Hush! It’s a secret
There’s no one around
Coins, coins, coins
Gold and round
Hush! It’s a secret
There’s no one around

Leprechaun puts the pot back on the ground
He looks around.

Leprechaun: I can go now.

Leprechaun walks away.
Billy: Lilly, give me your ribbon.

Lilly: Here you are.

Billy ties the ribbon round a tree.

Billy:
We can come here tomorrow.

Lilly: You are clever, Billy.
Let’s go home.

The next morning Leprechaun comes back to his secret place.
He sees Lilly’s ribbon on the tree.

Leprechaun:
Dear me, what do I see?
You can’t trick me!
You can’t trick me!

Leprechaun takes some colourful ribbons out of his pocket and ties them around trees and
bushes. Then he leaves.

The children come to the woods.

Billy: Look, Lilly!

Lilly: A ribbon here!
       A ribbon there!
       Where is the pot,
       where oh, where?
                                                     Billy:

       A ribbon here!
       A ribbon there!
       Where is the pot,
       where oh, where?

Suddenly a little girl appears. She is crying because she is lost in the woods.

Lilly: Why are you sad?

Girl: I can’t find my mum. Can you help me?

Billy: Don’t cry! Let’s look for your mum.
Lilly: Yes, let’s go.

Billy, Lilly and the girl walk around the stage.
Trees:

First go straight
Then turn right
Then turn left
Look at the sky

Girl: Look! A rainbow!

Lilly: Yes, we must follow it!

Trees:
Follow the rainbow!
Run, run, run
Run back home
And kiss your mum!

Mum enters.
The Girl greets her mum, they smile and hug .
Mum thanks Lilly and Billy for finding her daughter.

Mum: Thank you for your help!
Girl: Thank you!

Billy and Lilly: You are welcome.

Billy and Lilly:

We can help when you’re lost
We can help when you’re sad
We can help when you’re lonely
Helping people is not bad!


All:

They can help when you’re lost
