It is a great pleasure to be here today witnessing a great cultural achievement
and sharing it with distinctive scholarly leaders, university presidents, deans
and professors, in addition to state officials, businesspeople, ambassadors
and media members.
I would like to warmly welcome a dear friend ; Shenyang University
president, Professor Zhao Dayu, who came personally and especially for this
event from Beijing, to celebrate the inauguration of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh
Confucius Institute for teaching the Chinese language at the premises of
Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Academies. This Institute will be a major and unique
addition among other institutes and academies for teaching Chinese
language, so thank you for giving us this honor.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
We all realize the significant role the People’s Republic of China in the past,
present and in the future. I would like to pause here for a moment regarding
the “future”, to remind everyone of what I said previously that China will
lead the world within the next ten years as an economic and commercial
force and will form a massive economic bloc with other countries –
including Arab countries- due to the capacity of its resources, markets and
As such, I say there is an urgent need to learn the Chinese language since it
assists in the development of business through facilitating communication in
conducting trade and dealing with officials, businesspeople and all society
sectors; in addition, learning the Chinese language enhances our knowledge
of the great culture, civilization and history of China.
Your Excellency Ambassador Yuhang Yang, we are honored and proud of
our partnership with you and we value your support. We look forward to
working together f in the educational field and cultural exchange between
Jordan and China.
We do believe that this partnership will contribute to the development of the
Chinese language, bridging the gap between two cultures and creating
common understanding between the Jordanian and Chinese peoples. I am
full of hope and confidence that we will achieve this in other Arab countries
On this occasion I’m also pleased to announce that the TAG Confucius
Institute will be willing to receive people who wish to visit China to assist
them in conducting the required travelling procedures.
Finally, I thank you ladies and gentlemen –our honorable guests- for your
attendance and response to the invitation.
