                   HOSTS FIRST ANNUAL
“FIGHTING BACK AGAINST IDENTITY THEFT” WEEK
Albuquerque, NM, July 19, 2007 – Identity theft is a serious crime. People
whose identities have been stolen can spend months or years and thousands of
dollars cleaning up the mess the thieves have made of a good name and credit
record. In the meantime, victims of identity theft may lose job opportunities, be
refused loans for education, housing, or cars, and even get arrested for crimes
they didn't commit.

Sandia Area Federal Credit Union has declared war on fraud and identity theft
and is making a strong effort to help educate the community on ways to protect
themselves. We have declared July 23 through 28 our first “Fighting Back
Against Identity Theft” Week, where we will help arm the community with the
information they need to protect their identity.

Tuesday, July 24 we will host a free workshop, open to the community, entitled
“Identity Theft and Internet Safety for You and Your Family.” The workshop will
be facilitated by FBI Special Agent Cindy Benesch, who has over 10 years of
experience in computer security. She will share her knowledge about identity
theft and internet safety from 6:30–8:00 pm at our Westside Office, located on
Coors Blvd. Between Montano and Paseo Del Norte. While open to the public,
space is limited. R.S.V.P. by calling 292-6343 ext. 1412. or e-mail
jennifer.harris@sandia.org.

Saturday, July 28 we will have an “Open House” at our Westside Office from
10:00 am–1:00 pm. Again this is open to the community and we will provide free
on-site document shredding, credit reviews and fingerprinting kits for the kids.
