    POSITION SUMMARY:
    The job holder will conduct repairs, maintenance and servicing on all Council plant items
    and assets. The job holder will also supervise Apprentice Mechanics.

    POSITION OBJECTIVES:
        Undertake maintenance and servicing on all Council plant items.
        Project the image of Council as both efficient and courteous.
        Help promote the Council of Wellington as a prosperous and progressive area.

    DELEGATIONS OF AUTHORITY:
    As per delegations issued by the General Manager.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    Terms and conditions of employment are governed by the Local Government (State) Award
    2007.

    Salary
    The position has been evaluated as Grade 1 in accordance with Council’s Salary Matrix with
    a weekly rate of $832.92 to $935.80 (including disability allowance).

    Hours
    38 hour week – Monday to Friday

    Council operates under a nine-day fortnight with a regular rostered day off accruing every
    fortnight.
    Medical Certificate
    It is necessary to provide a pre-employment medical certificate by Council’s Doctor at
    Council’s cost.
    Smoke Free Work Environment
    Council operates a smoke free environment in all Council offices, vehicles or plant.

    Performance and Development Review
    A Performance review will be undertaken on a yearly basis utilising performance indicators
    as outlined in the attached Skills Matrix and will include formulation of a career path and
    training plan.

    SELECTION CRITERIA:
    Essential

     1.     Licensed Motor Vehicle Mechanic with relevant work experience.
     2.     Possess Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Council Licence.
     3.     Ability to work in a team environment.
     4.     Possess Class C Drivers Licence.
     5.     Knowledge of and commitment to EEO and OH&S practices.
    Desirable

     1.     Possess Truck Drivers Licence (Class MR, HR or HC).
     2.     First Aid Certificate.
     3.     Forklift Licence (NCOC).
     4.     RTA Vehicle Inspectors Licence.
     5.     Automotive Air Conditioning Licence.
