									Pyrus ussuriensis
Description:
Small to medium tree to 15 metres in height with
a broadly conical crown. The yellowish green
leaves are ovate or rounded, bristle-toothed on
the edges, and turn crimson bronze in autumn.
A mass of white flowers up to 35mm across are
produced in early spring.


Occurrence:
From north-eastern China, Korea and northern
Japan. Widely used as a street tree in Australia.


Cultivation:
Pears will grow in most fertile soils. Pruning is
seldom required, apart from forming a well-
shaped tree in the early stages.
