(DETA) employees to build their understanding of the Developing Performance
Framework. This session is the first point of reference for all staff so they gain an

session is both engaging and highly informative. Participants have the opportunity to
discuss their experiences with performance systems and work through the difference

Structure and purpose of A one-hour workshop designed for team leaders to explore the characteristics of a

Professional Development Conversation: Leading Workplace Cultural Change
Structure and purpose of This 4–6 week professional development opportunity is a facilitated online discussion

Structure and purpose of The Practical Performance Conversations for Employees workshop provides participants
the program with the confidence and skills to have performance conversations with their supervisors
and peers — that is, to have conversations about their work, clarify their role and
expectations, and discuss their career and capability development.
The emphasis in this workshop is on forming a partnership between employees and
managers with shared responsibility for Performance Planning and Management.

Structure and purpose of The objective of the ANZSOG EMPA program is to develop world-class senior public

Structure and purpose of The DETA Executive Program will involve up to 10 high-potential public servants (AO8

The Director-General’s Bursary
Structure and purpose of Two officers (one male and one female classified as AO8, SO1 or SO2) annually will

Leadership Development Program A02–A08 (or equivalent)
Structure and purpose of Open to A02s through to A08s or equivalent (including educational delivery staff
the program in TAFE institutes), staff will learn effective workplace behaviours and how they can
positively influence workplace culture, which can lead to enhanced individual and team
performance and improved business outcomes.
The Leadership Development Program is designed to capitalise on a range of
development activities held over several months. These include workshops, working
with a coach, 360-degree feedback, experiential activities, peer coaching, interviews
with successful leaders, readings, and applying learnings in a workplace project.
Programs are offered in three streams:
• A02–A03 and equivalent levels
• A04–A05 and equivalent levels
• A06 and above or equivalent (including TAFE educational delivery staff).
During the program, the participant is supported in their learning by a number
of people: their supervisor, their workplace coach, the program champion, their
colleagues, as well as their learning partner and peer learning group who are other
participants of the program.

Managing the People Side of Projects
Structure and purpose of This two-day program gives participants the opportunity to develop a plan of actions
the program that need to be taken by their organisation to help employees or clients transition from
the current state to a desired future state. Participants will apply Prosci’s research-
based change management methodology to a real-life current or planned project from
their workplace.
This will lead to the development of a strategy, customised to their project, which
provides direction and results in informed decision making. This program will benefit
project managers, supervisors, project team members and others who want to
achieve successful outcomes in projects which depend heavily on changing workplace
behaviours.

Situational Team Leadership
Structure and purpose of Situational Team Leadership helps team leaders and members understand the

member behaviours look like in a variety of situations. It explains the stages of team
development and provides a guide to group behaviour in each stage.

Situational Leadership II
Structure and purpose of The Situational Leadership II workshop is designed to give managers and supervisors
the program the skills to develop their employees’ competence and motivation.
The Situational Leadership II model involves adapting leadership styles to suit a
specific individual’s competence and commitment with respect to a specific task. This
workshop is designed to enable managers to identify how to match their leadership
style to the employees’ development level.
The workshop is organised into eight modules covering basic beliefs underlying
the Situational Leadership model, essential skills (including practice), developing
partnerships with employees and action planning.

Selection Panel Skills Workshop
Structure and purpose of This full-day workshop assists participants in building a strong workforce by recruiting
the program and selecting appropriate staff in accordance with departmental policy. The workshop
covers all aspects from recruitment, short-listing and interviewing to post-selection
procedures. Participants will develop skills in short-listing applicants, developing
interview questions, planning for interviews, making selection decisions and
undertaking post-selection processes.

Structure and purpose of This facilitated online learning course has been developed by supply teachers for
the program supply teachers and is available through the Learning Place. The course provides
opportunities to ‘step outside of the circle’ and view the art of supply teaching as a
learning journey which incorporates the synthesis of rich and often diverse personal
backgrounds with best practice pedagogy.
The course is a sequential learning journey and is divided into three themes and five
modules. Each of these themes explores an issue that is an essential part of a supply
teacher’s ability to teach effectively.

Structure and purpose of The Disability Services Support Unit conducts statewide induction programs for
the program specialist support staff working with students with disabilities. The programs are
designed to introduce newly appointed staff to their roles and provide information
about current policies and practices for students with disabilities.
The program consists of three-day programs in Brisbane and designated regional
locations. Follow-up activities such as audio-graphic conferences and on-site visits are

Structure and purpose This course supports Education Queensland classroom teachers, specialist support staff
of the program and school administrators in considering the contemporary legislative, policy and practice
frameworks that enhance the access, participation and engagement of students with
disabilities within class and school settings.
The goals of the course are to engage participants in:
• Developing an understanding of the contemporary legislative and policy frameworks
in the education of students with disabilities, and implications for educational
practice
• Reflecting on their own educational practice and decision making in the education of
students with disabilities in light of evidence-based research
• Considering opportunities for providing leadership in the development and
enhancement of inclusive education practices in their school setting.

Structure and purpose of The Workplace Health and Safety Officer (WHSO) course meets the statutory

School teams will participate in a range of activities that are designed to enhance their

programs. Teams Training is run over two consecutive days, 10 hours in total.
