                                         Trainer's Guide

(Although this is obviously an introductory session, I would suggest some reorganization to conform with
others, per the spec sheet, as follows: First, list the objectives of the session, then the total time required,
then any trainer preparation, then materials, then list the titles of the visual aids (even though only 3), then
Organization and Key Points, as is done with the other sessions)

Also, more content-related, what is presented here seems to be out of context with the visual aids and the
session guide. I have these questions:
1. Is there some way that the trainer is supposed to handle the introductions? Is the Gallery of Experts
supposed to be a "gallery" of pictures and descriptions of participants and trainers?
2. How are they supposed to use the materials listed below?
3. There's lots of description about the committees, but nothing in the visual aids or session guides to give
participants a sense of what is going on. I have copyedited, with some queries, the duties of the
committees, but a statement about what to do with this information is missing.
4. How much time should be spent on this introduction and how much on the background of the course?)

                                                 ACTIVITY

(not sure what this word refers to--is it the forming of committees? Making the
gallery? How does trainer use the slide about the background of the course?)

MATERIALS
One half-sheet of flipchart paper for each participant, enough markers for half the
participants, transparent tape and masking tape. Photographs will be provided or
taken.

SUGGESTED COMMITTEES AND COMMITTEE TASKS
(see question above. Also, this currently just appears in trainer's guide. Should it be in
session notes, too? )

The participant committees help carry out important workshop functions and
increase the participants' investment in the workshop. Trainers (Do you mean
trainers in previous iterations of this course?) have formed four kinds of
committees: Administration, Social, After Hours, and Evaluation. A trainer is
generally assigned as a liaison with each committee, helping members carry out
their tasks. Participants in previous training sessions (is that who did the
assigning?) assigned the following tasks to the four committees; other groups
may want to add to or change these tasks.

Administration: Suggested Tasks
 Give daily information on happenings both inside and outside the workshop
  venue.
 Meet administration and logistics needs of participants, working with
Administration staff through the liaison trainer.
 At the end of every day, ensure that the training hall is neat and that anything
  left there is in order.
 Support the norms (When are the norms supposed to be set?? By the trainers
or participants? Is this part of the Gallery of Experts or another training
session?) set on the first day.

Social Committee: Suggested Tasks
 Plan social activities in liaison with the after-hours committee.
 See to the welfare of the participants; report ill health or other problems to the
  liaison trainer.
 Help maintain the ground rules (are the ground rules and the norms
different?) of the workshop among participants.

After- Hours Committee: Suggested Tasks
 Prepare a program of non-social activities in liaison with the social committee.
 Invite participants to present information about their experiences at these
   evening sessions.
 Organize video showings when requested.

Evaluation Committee: Suggested Tasks

 Compile the daily evaluations and present the results to the participants and
trainers (is method of evaluation spelled out elsewhere?).
 Give a brief report of the previous day's activities. (is this an oral report? Or a
report to the trainers? Is it a summary by the committee of previous activities
or the re-cap of the evaluations?)
