User Guide for Contractor’s Fax Back Permits
The City of Walnut Creek is now accepting and issuing permits for minor work via fax with payment by MasterCard or Visa credit cards. Minor work requiring a permit can be processed via fax for the following permit types: • • • Replacement of Residential Water Heater Replacement of Heaters or Furnaces, and/or Air Conditioners Re-roof (when additional weight is acceptable)
Before using this service, a contractor must first register with the city. Registration requires the following information be on file and current with the city: A completed and executed registration form, which contains a list of authorized employee signatures (available on the Building Division’s Web site) Worker’s Compensation Insurance Policy Certificate City Business License (for information, please contact Business License at 925-943-5821) To register, please mail or fax the original registration form, along with a current copy of Worker’s Compensation Insurance Policy, to: City of Walnut Creek, Community Development Department Attn: Fax-Back 1666 N. Main St, Walnut Creek, CA 94596 Fax # (925) 256-3500 Once your company has completed the registration process, you will be notified by telephone. You then may start faxing permit applications by following these four steps: Step 1: Step 2: Step 3: Step 4: Step 5: Download the latest fax-back documents from http://www.walnut-creek.org/building. Complete and sign the “fax” permit application (Part 1 of 3). Complete and sign the credit card authorization form (Part 2 of 3) When applicable, complete and sign the Construction Lending Agency declaration (Part 3 or 3) Fax all completed documents to the City using (925) 256-3500.
A permit (with inspection request information) and a receipt for payment will be faxed to you once the permit is processed. Permit applications received via fax by noon Monday through Friday will be processed the same day. Permit applications received after 12:00 noon Monday through Friday will be processed the following business day. A COPY OF THE ISSUED PERMIT SHALL BE MAINTAINED ON THE JOBSITE UNTIL AFTER THE FINAL INSPECTION, OR PENALTIES MAY BE ASSESSED.
