NATIONALS

For all of our members going to Nationals please read the following section carefully.
Out of a total of 63 members, 51 will be participating in the event. Lets see if we can bring
home some of the trophies that have eluded us over the last few years. Above all enjoy
yourself and catch up with old friends who you may not have seen since last years masters.

Great pity that we loose 5 of our members (including 3 new members) to SA Waterpolo
Champs, which is on, the same weekend in East London, but we wish you all the best.

We would like everyone to attend the Thursday afternoon session for a group photo. Some of
our members will not be available on other days.

The committee has spent a lot of time and effort in sorting out the relays. We have an
amazing 42 teams entered in relays !!!!
Our aim has been two fold. Firstly, to put in the strongest teams where possible, and secondly
to give ALL the members a chance to compete. This means that if a member does not turn up
for a relay no-one else will be available to take his or her place. Please do not let your team
down! Relays are great point scorers.

Find out who is on your team are and when you are swimming. To this end an excel
spreadsheet has been sent out with the newsletter giving details of all the relay teams. Relays
are a lot of fun and by participating the true spirit of masters comes through (and
pleaseeeeeee in team costume and new caps).

Essentials for Delville:

1) Sun tan cream
2) Loads of liquids to drinks (alcohol for the evenings)
3) Flip flops/ sandals/ shoes - bricks about the pool are VERY hot !!
4) Food always a good idea - tuck shop at the pool, although Pick 'n Pay, Nando's and
Pizza Perfect are down the road
5) Late afternoon and evenings - something warm to wear the nights can get nippy already
6) Shade - any tents the club can use would be great
7) New Phoenix caps and costumes for ALL relays

For those that might get lost, this is for you:

On the Saturday the Final Gala Dinner event is being held at the Boksburg Civic Centre -
It is at the Lake and the theme is gold. Maps to the venue will be in the program / book.
There are tables of 10 at the gala dinner and everyone will be served. You will only have to
stand in a queue to get drinks.

Still need some more suggestions on a dress for Phoenix …… you will be advised as to what
to wear closer to the time.

GALA RESULTS

On a day when it rained incessantly we held our Phoenix Gala. As expected the turnout was
lower than expected but was well supported by some of our members.
It was especially pleasing to see our newer members being present in full force. A big thanks
to all who helped run the event. It went off without a hitch despite the rain and all had loads
of fun. I am not sure who was wetter at the end of the day, the swimmers or the officials.

The team results of the Old Eds and Phoenix gala are attached at the end of the newsletter
