Women from Shadwell visit a theatre in the West End. A very special outing for a diverse group
of women, bringing together all ages, back-grounds and races. Irish, Jamaican, Bengali and

Shami Chakrabati became Director of Liberty in 2003. She has worked on a number of high
profile cases and became a recognised expert on the UK‟s anti-terrorism laws. Shami trained at
the Public and Common Law Bar before joining the Home Office Legal Advisers‟ branch and
during her service in Government advised Labour and Conservative Ministers on a range of
sensitive policy issues and was one of the Home Office Officials responsible for the
implementation of the Human Rights Act. She is an active member of Britain‟s human rights and
public law community, an Executive Governor of the Public Institute of Human Rights.

A reading of the play “I Have before Me A Remarkable Document Given To Me By A Young
Lady from Rwanda” by Sonja Linden, award-winning playwright and founder of iceandfire
theatre company. The reading tells the story of Juliette, a young Rwanda asylum seeker, and
provides a compelling account of her journey to London, her experiences in the city, and her
relationship with a novelist who is helping her to write a book about the genocide which killed
her family and forced her to flee her home. The reading will be followed by a Question and
Answer session with Sonja Linden and iceandfire‟s Artistic Director.

Pakistan and who are experiencing a dreadful winter. Spiral socks are knitted without „turning‟ a

Socks will be 100% wool which will keep toes warm.
