Charlie’s memorial swim for Kerry Kerry Moore was one of the driving forces behind the annual charity event, Swim for Kids, run by Mobilong Prison. He had been one of the pioneering staff who 15 years ago began raising money through this unusual event for disabled children in Murray Bridge. Unfortunately Kerry died about a year ago. His good friend Charlie Meneghetti this year took up the challenge and dedicated his 39.5 km swim from Mannum to Murray Bridge to Kerry, calling it the Kerry Moore Memorial Swim for Kids. The three-day swim is a major endurance event that culminates at Sturt Reserve in Murray Bridge to coincide with the town’s Christmas pageant. Charlie has been training for about a year to complete it. He hopes more than the $15,000 target will be reached. The event was supported by The Murray Valley Standard, Power FM, 5MU, Murraylands Offroad and Boating, Farm Fresh Markets, Mannum Community College, Murray Bridge High School, Mobilong prisoners, the Murray Bridge Council and the Advertiser Foundation with a major donation of $9600. Proceeds will go to the disabled childrens’ charity, Novita.
