TUMBLIN’ TOTS - A fun way to fitness that is getting children excited about exercise. The focus of the
program is on building motor skills and coordination while in a social setting. The course includes movement,
music, gymnastics, exercise, games, listening, and cooperation. The program will held on Mondays in the
Gymnasium at the Church Street Recreation Center beginning March 24th for eight weeks through May 12th.
Ages 2 ½ and 3 are from 9:30-10:15 and ages 4 and 5 from 10:30 – 11:15. Fee: $65.00. Parents are required to
stay.

CHILDREN’S ARTS AND CRAFTS – Begins March 29th through May 3rd and will be held on the Third
Floor of the Church Street Recreation Center. The times are: 9:30 AM for Kindergarten, 10:30 AM for grades
one and two, and 11:30 AM for grades three and four. Project mediums are varied throughout the weeks, and
children will be able to take their projects home to finish if not completed or
may get them from the instructor to take home if they are unable to attend a
class. Fee: $40.00.

OIL PAINTING CLASSES (ADULT/CHILD and SENIOR CITIZENS) - The ongoing wet-on-wet oil
painting classes will continue on Saturday, March 1st at the New Albany Road Recreation Center. Classes are
held every other Saturday throughout the year and are approximately two hours in length. The adult/child class
is at 1:00 PM and the Senior Citizens class is at 3:00 PM. Fee: $50.00 Adults, $45.00 Children and Senior
Citizens.

ADULT WOMEN’S BASKETBALL – The informal pick-up basketball program will continue through the
month of May for Moorestown women on Tuesday evenings from 8:30 to 10:00 PM at the Moorestown
Athletic Center, (Church Street Recreation Center beginning March 11th). All equipment will be provided.
Proof of residency is required, and the registration fee is $10.00 per player.


GOLF LESSONS – For beginning golfers beginning on Thursday, April 24th at the Willowbrook Golf Club on
Bridgeboro Road in Moorestown. The classes for children ages 10 to 14 are held from 4:15 to 5:15 PM, while
the adult class is held from 5:30 to 6:30 PM for six consecutive weeks. The fee for the six-week program is
$80.00 for Moorestown and $85.00 for non-resident participants. CLASS SIZES ARE LIMITED, so early
registration is suggested.
GIRLS’ LACROSSE LEAGUES – For girls living or going to school in Moorestown and currently attending
grades three through six, will be held on Wednesday (4:30-6:00 PM) and Sunday afternoons (12:30-2:00 PM)
at the Wesley Bishop Park North fields. No prior experience is necessary. Registration Deadline: March 7th.
The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 12th at 4:30 PM, weather permitting. The website will
confirm the March 12th start (www.moorestown.nj.us/parks_rec). The fee, $35, includes two inter-town play
days (Dates to be announced). Equipment including balls and sticks will be provided, but a mouthpiece and
GOGGLES, (mandatory for the first time this season), must be provided by the girls. Rubber bottomed all-
purpose shoes are also recommended.


HOME RUN DERBY - Friday evening, May 16th (rain date: Friday, May 30th) at Jeff Young Park: 7,8, and 9
year olds at 5:30 PM; 10, 11, and 12 year olds at 6:15 PM; and 13, 14, and 15 year olds at 7:00 PM. Boys will
hit baseballs and girls will hit softballs, with points being issued for all fair balls. Registration forms, will be
available at the Recreation Department and should be returned by the day of the event.




PUBLIC SWIMMING - The Moorestown Community House Pool will be open for family swimming on
                       Friday evenings from 7:00 to 10:00 PM and on Saturday afternoons from 2:00 to 4:00
                       PM. The fees for residents per hour are $3.00 for children and $4.00 for adults. The fees
                       for non-residents are $4.00 per hour for children and $5.00 per hour for adults. No pre-
                       registration is necessary, and all fees are collected at the pool. NOTE: The pool is closed
                       on 3/21, 3/22, 5/23, and 5/24.




ADULT YOGA - Will be held on a choice of either Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:15 PM, Thursday
nights from 6:00 to 7:15 PM, or Sunday afternoons from 12:00 Noon to 1:15 PM. All classes will be
conducted throughout the school year in a series of eight-week lessons on the Third Floor of the Church Street
Recreation Center. The Spring Series starts on Wednesday, April 2nd. The cost per series is $55.00 or $12.00
per class.

ADULT TAE BO – A program that combines martial arts and boxing with aerobic dancing to create a
complete body sculpting, fat blasting, workout that is fun and pushes its participants to their ultimate fitness
level.   A one-hour Tae Bo cardio workout burns approximately 800 calories. The mind /body connection can
provide overall fitness and weight loss, as well as can be a life-changing experience for those whose dedication
takes them thorough a total body transformation. The six week course will be held on Thursday nights from
7:30 AM to 8:30 PM and/or on Saturday mornings from 8:15 AM to 9:15 AM at the Recreation Center. The
program starts Sesssion I – February 23rd or February 28th and Session II April 10th or April 12th. Fee: $60.00

CO-ED ADULT and SENIOR CITIZEN LAP SWIMMING - Open swim time is available at the
Moorestown Community House Pool on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. The
program is designed for adult and senior citizen lap swimming or water exercise. There is a registration fee of
$5.00, with a resident fee per visit of $5.00 and a non-resident per visit fee of $6.00. NOTE: The program will
conclude for the year on June 5th. No pre-registration is required, and all fees are collected at the pool.




                               INDIVIDUALS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS


FAMILY BOWLING EXCURSIONS - An afternoon of bowling at the Playdrome Bowling Lanes on Kings
Highway in Cherry Hill is planned each month. The winter trip is currently scheduled for March 1st from 12:00
Noon to 2:00 PM. Bowling shoes and unlimited games in the two-hour period are included. Cost per person
for each afternoon is $8.00.


FAMILY RIVERSHARKS GAME – Held on                                          June 6th at Campbell’s Field, join in the
fun of watching the Camden Riversharks face                                  the York Revolution as well as a
fireworks display. Game time is 7:05 PM, and                                the cost is $8.00.


MUSIC MOVEMENT ARTS PROGRAM - A                                           program of balance, coordination, and
story-telling through the use of dramatics and movement of the body is planned for children ages three to
seventeen. The program, which is one hour in length and will be held for ten weeks, stresses creativity and non-
verbal communication. The program will conducted on Saturdays starting on February 23rd through April 26th.
Fee: $40.00.
HORSEBACK RIDING – Held in two-hour sessions from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Majoda Stables on Garwood
Road is available on four dates—April 7, April 21, May 5, and May 19. The cost per session is $35.00. Rain
dates will be accommodated in cases of inclement weather.


OPEN GAME ROOM - CHURCH STREET RECREATION CENTER - Held on Fridays March 14th,
April 18th, and May 16th on the third floor of the Church Street Recreation Center from 3:30 to 5:00 PM. Ping
pong, nok-hockey, mancala, and many other board games will be available as well as an arts and crafts area set
up for use, and an informal area for music and dancing.


OPEN GYMNASIYM - The gymnasium will be available for open play on Fridays March 7th, March 28th,
April 11th, April 25th, May 9th, and May 16th from 3:30 to 5:00 PM. The program includes games and activities
in an informal setting. There is no fee, but registration is necessary.


FAMILY SWIMMING - Held at the Moorestown Community House on Friday evenings, February 29th and
March 28th from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. To register, please call 235-0912, ext. 3025. All fees ($2.00 for
children/$3.00 for adults), will be collected at the pool.



              ARTS AND CRAFTS – A developmental program for those interested in painting, drawing, and
              material construction with glue. The Program’s spring series will be held on Tuesdays from 4:00-
              5:00 PM for five weeks starting February 26th for children ages 5 to 10. Classes will be held on
              the Third Floor of the Church Street Recreation Center. Fee: $40.00

                                              SENIOR CITIZENS


SENIOR CITIZEN TRIP SERIES - A series of trips are planned for the senior community members that will
include such venues as Washington, D.C or Annapolis, Maryland.            Other trips to tour sites, dinner theaters,
and Radio City are in the planning stages. Buses depart from the Peter Pan parking lot, and fees that include
trip costs and transportation will be charged. Information on further trips will be distributed individually for
registration purposes.
SENIOR CITIZEN BOOK CLUB – Held at 1:00 PM at the New Albany Road Recreation Center, the club
reads chosen books and meets the second Monday of the month for discussion. For all those interested in
attending, please contact the Department of Parks and Recreation office (235-0912, ext. 3025).

SENIOR BALLROOM DANCE – A one-hour class will be held for adults and senior citizens for six weeks
on Friday mornings from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM on the Third Floor of the Church Street Recreation Center.
The program runs from March 7th through April 18th. Fee: $65.00.
Instructor: Carol Clark


SENIOR LINE DANCING – Held on Thursday afternoons on the Third Floor of the Church Street Recreation
Center from 1:30 to 2:30 PM starting on Thursday, March 13th for six weeks through May 1st. Line dancing is
lots of fun and keeps you physically, socially, and mentally active. No partner or experience is necessary. The
fee for the program, that will feature many    of the    contemporary country favorites, is $40.00.

SENIOR INTEREST CLUBS - Several clubs are forming for special interests such as Pool, Ping-Pong, Art,
and Cooking, Chess and other games (i.e. Checkers, Rummy Cube, Yahtzee, Trivial Pursuit), and Cards (i.e.
500,Progressive, or Gin Rummy, Pinochle, and Bridge). The club sessions will be conducted on the Third
Floor of the Church Street Recreation Center or at the New Albany Road Recreation Center.


SUMMER WALKING TOURS – The Tree Planting and Preservation Committee is reaching out to
Moorestown residents to conduct a tree inventory in Moorestown. The trees need trimming, maintenance,
replacement, and monitoring for diseases. Providing an inventory through touring will be a valuable tool for
preserving one of our town’s greatest assets . The tours will be started during the summer months. If you are
interested in joining this effort and learning more about our trees, please contact gardenwalker@comcast.net.


                                                        TEENS

TEEN VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE – League play for students in grades 7 through 12 on Friday nights between
6:30 and 9:30 PM at the William Allen III Middle School. The program starts on Friday, April 4th. Teams will
play three-game matches during the regular season, with a position tourney being held at the conclusion of the
schedule. Space is limited, so early registration is suggested. Cost: $25.00


TEEN VOLLEYBALL CLINIC – A clinic for students in grades 5 and 6 on Sunday evenings from 6:45 to
8:15 PM at the Moorestown High School Athletic Center. The program starts on Friday, April 6th through May
18th (no program May 11th). Space is limited, so early registration is suggested. Cost: $25.00


TEEN SPRING PARKS CLEAN-UP – Teams are now forming to clean up the Township Parks. This will
take place on Saturday, May 31st from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.




                                                    DANCE

BALLET/TAP SERIES (Ages 3                     through 6) -      Will be held at the Moorestown Community
House on Saturday s. Age 3 and                4 is scheduled for 12:00 PM, ages 5 and 6 is at 1:00 PM. The
eight-week Spring session                     runs from March 15th through May 10th will emphasize balance,
coordination, and creative use of          body movement and learning proper techniques, with a section of the
class devoted to tap dancing.                      Clothing should be form-fitting, and inexpensive ballet and tap
shoes are needed. The fee is $75.00 per session.

IRISH STEP DANCING (Children and Adults) - Conducted in several eight-week sessions on the Third
Floor of the Church Street Recreation Center, the second session begins on Monday, March 31st for Advanced
Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced level dancers--and on Tuesday, April 1st for beginners. Classes for
beginner will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-7:00 PM, and all other classes will be held on Monday
evenings between 5:00 and 9:00 PM. Where available, boys and girls at the beginning level are welcome to
attend the class on a first come-first serve basis. The cost for the eight-week series is $75.00 (checks made
payable to the Township of Moorestown).

JAZZ DANCE SERIES (Ages 6 and Older) – Held at the Moorestown Community House on Saturday
mornings from 9:00 to 10:00 AM and 10:00 to 11:00 AM. The program’s six-week spring series starts on
March 1st. Stress on body movement and contemporary dance arrangements in a low-key atmosphere will be
the emphasis of this dance program. Fee: $75.00

ADULT JAZZ DANCE SERIES - An adult class will also be held on the Third Floor of the Church Street
Recreation Center on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 PM starting Tuesday, March 4th. For those who
have been dedicated to the sport of dance and who wish to expound on their passion for dancing, this class that
provides freedom of movement and expression for a stress-busting hour is a must. Fee for the six-week course
is: $75.00.

BALLROOM DANCE SERIES – Held for adults and senior citizens on the Third Floor of the Church Street
Recreation Center on Friday mornings from 11:30 to 12:30 PM. A six –week series of instruction in ballroom
and Latin dancing, featuring the meringue, swing, cha cha, and samba. Singles as well as couples are welcome
to attend. You do not have to have a partner. The cost per dancer is $65.00,
and the session runs from March 7th through April 18th.

HIP HOP DANCE – Classes for children ages 8 and older will take place on Saturday afternoons from 2:00 to
3:00 PM at the Moorestown Community House. The class included a cardio-like warm-up, across the floor and
center-floor combination exercises, followed by a relaxing cool-down. Dance sneakers or shoes are the only
requirement. The fee for the eight-week session that begins on March 15th is $75.00.

                             SUMMER PROGRAM REGISTRATION
Registration for the Summer Programs will be held from Wednesday, May 28th through Friday June 13th, with a
late registration period continuing through June 20th. The fees are to be determined. The Summer Parks
Program runs for six weeks, June 24th through August 1st, and the Summer Theater Program runs from June 25th
through August 2nd, with auditions being held on June 23rd and June 24th from 9-11 AM and 1-3 PM. The
performance dates are Thursday, July 31-1 PM, Friday, August 1-8 PM, and Saturday, August 2-8 PM.
                         PROGRAM REGISTRATION PROCEDURES


For all programs that require a fee:


A registration form may be obtained either at the Department of Parks and Recreation Office at 2 Executive
Drive (after February 11th) or may be downloaded off the Moorestown Township (Department of Parks and
Recreation website at www.moorestown.nj.us/parks_recreation. The form is located under “Programs” and is
entitled “2008 Spring Program Registration Sheet”.


Registrations, along with payment, may be brought to the Department Office (2 Executive Drive, Suite 9Bor
may be mailed to 111 W. Second Street, Moorestown, New Jersey, 08057, Attention: Department of Parks and
Recreation.


ALL CHECKS SHOULD BE MADE PAYABLE TO THE ―TOWNSHIP OF MOORESTOWN”



                        The Department of Parks and Recreation reserves the right
                          to cancel any programs due to insufficient registration.



For all non-fee based programs:


Unless programs indicate that no pre-registration is necessary, interested participants may register by stopping
by the Department of Parks and Recreation Office or by calling the temporary contact phone number (Township
of Moorestown main number) at (856) 235-6344 or (856) 235-0912, extension 3025.


For teen programming, special registration periods will be held at the William Allen III Middle School and
Moorestown High School cafeterias during designated lunch periods.



PROGRAM PROCEDURE: During any program, no children other than those participating are to be
present unless supervised by an adult. This is for the safety and liability of all participants.
