Jasper Conran As one of the UK’s leading fashion designers with a successful career spanning over 20 years, Jasper Conran is known as an authority on British style and tailoring. His signature aesthetic mixes classic British elegance with a cheeky irreverent attitude that has been applied across designs for menswear, womenswear, fragrance, furniture and homeware including Wedgwood china and Waterford crystal. Educated at Bryanston and Parson School of Art & Design in New York, Jasper Conran’s first collection was designed for Henri Bendel New York. In 1979, aged just 19, Jasper Conran designed his first collection under his own name. The following year he was elected to the London Designer collections. With two Fil d'Or International Linen awards in 1982 and 1983 and by now an internationally established label, Jasper Conran was awarded British Designer of the Year in 1986 and the Fashion Group of America award the following year. It was his association with the Debenhams store group and his exclusive J Line womenswear collection launched in 1996 that allowed a wider audience to buy into the distinctive Jasper Conran style. Today that association has expanded to include jeans, accessories & hosiery, homeware, bridalwear, childrenswear, lingerie and most recently, menswear. Jasper Conran began designing his signature range of crystal for Waterford in 1999. That endeavour has evolved into four unique lines for Waterford and a complementary tableware collection in fine bone china for Wedgwood. This range has recently expanded to include five new lines – including chinoiserie, platinum stripe and coloured china. The Jasper Conran for Wedgwood Collection has been the number one selling porcelain tableware throughout the UK. In 2003, Jasper Conran signature fragrance was launched followed by an award-winning home fragrance. Two colourful summer scents, Jasper Conran II Man and Woman were launched in 2005. In 2004, Jasper Conran designed a range of fabrics and wallpapers for Designers Guild. The same year, Jasper Conran created a unique collection of contemporary fireplaces for Chesney’s. The Jasper Conran flagship store opened in February 2005 in a four-story Georgian home in London’s Mayfair. The store features all the Jasper Conran high-end collections – along with an exclusive made-to-order furniture line – under one roof. Also in 2005 Jasper Conran at Wedgwood launched five additional ranges including the popular Chinoiserie which won the Design and Decoration ‘Object of Desire’ Award. Jasper Conran currently shows his Womenswear Collection at London Fashion Week. His Menswear and Womenswear collections are available at the Jasper Conran flagship store in London’s Mayfair. Jasper Conran’s furniture range, as well as his Collection Accessories including shoes and bags, is also available exclusively at the flagship store. The successful Jasper Conran for Tripp Luggage range launched early in 2006 to both press and customer acclaim. Inspired by men’s tailoring Jasper Conran launched ‘Sackville Street’ a new collection of fabrics with Designer’s Guild in 2007. The new Jasper Conran fragrances Mister & Mistress launched in September 2007. The made-to-measure Jasper Conran Bridal Collection launched October 2007 and will be available exclusively from the Jasper Conran Georgian flagship in Mayfair. Throughout his career, Jasper Conran has pursued his passion for theatre and opera. In 1991, Jasper Conran won Lawrence Olivier Award for Costume Design for Jean Anouilh's 'The Rehearsal' at the Almeida Theatre in London. In eleven years he has created costumes and sets for fourteen different ballet, opera and theatre productions, and most notably secured his close collaboration with David Bintley on the Royal Ballet's production of 'Tombeaux' at Covent Garden and the celebrated Birmingham Royal Ballet's 'The Nutcracker Sweeties.' Other works include 'My Fair Lady' directed by Simon Callow and Donizetti's opera, 'Mary Stuart' for ENO.
