The next meeting of the GOS will be Monday, February 8th in the Alamo Room of
the Nessler Center at 7:30. Note this is one week earlier than our regular meeting
date, due to the President’s Day Holiday, falling on our regular meeting night.

Our featured speaker will be: Laurie Skov

He will demonstrate how to put an automated watering system together. This is
important if you have any kind of collection as it can be programmed and free you
from having to be there to water all the time. After the demonstration the system will
be available for a silent auction to the highest bidder and all the proceeds will go the
GOS. Minimum bid will be $30. This is really a very special offer and we thank the
Skov’s in advance for the demonstration and the donation.

Here is more info about our own Laurie Skov: Originally, from Chicago, Illinois,
Laurie has been growing orchids for more than 25 years. He retired from Amoco - BP
in 1999 and turned his orchid hobby into a business in 2001. Currently he is owner
and president of Orchids & Tropicals, LLC. He is past-president of the HOS, and past
VP of the GOS. He has a Bachelors and Masters degree in Analytical Chemistry from
Indiana University.

Refreshments will be provided by: Jane Malin & Sheila & Laurie Skov.

Please plan to pay your annual dues during the January meeting. Checks should be
made payable to: GOS or The Galveston Orchid Society, and given to J. R. Stanley.
Dues are $15 for individuals and $25 for families. Thank you for your continued
support.
