The quality of CDG applications, particularly in the area of Music, has clearly increased since this program’s inception. Dance and Music remains the
most competitive area in which to gain a CDG, as demonstrated by the figures above.
Under Dance and Music, primarily contemporary music applications have been supported during this period. Priority has been given to international
activities. Successful applications clearly demonstrated that their project was a unique or rare opportunity and timeliness w as taken into
consideration. None of these successful applicants had previously received a CDG from Arts Qld, although several have received funding under other
programs in the past.
Support for bands to attend international music markets has been extremely competitive and only bands with a strong track record and a showcase at
an official music market have been able to be supported (as indicated in the guidelines). Successful bands included I Heart Hiroshima, Kate Miller-
G:\ARTS DEVELOPMENT\GRANTS MANAGEMENT FUNDING\SECTOR PROJECT GRANTS 2009\CDG's\WEBSITE
Heidke and Kate Bradley and the Goodbye Horses. Other supported activities have included participation at international festivals, workshops, music
schools and mentorships in the areas of classical and world music. Two individual songwriting development activities, in the areas of country and
contemporary music, have also been supported.
Applications from the dance and non-contemporary music areas are encouraged under this program during the period.
