Marlboro’s recreation programs are open to Marlboro Township residents only. Children must be currently enrolled in an accredited kindergarten program or higher grade in September 2007 to be eligible to participate, unless other age minimum is stated. Each participant must be fully registered (including payment of registration fee) to be eligible to participate in any program. The Recreation Commission reserves the right to cancel any course which is not fully registered and to limit registration for designated courses. Registration fees are not refundable, except for the above situations. No refund after program begins. Full and partial scholarships are available for residents for whom fee payments would impose a financial hardship. Application for such a scholarship should be made with the Public Assistance Officer at 617-0100. INCLEMENT WEATHER: If schools are closed during the day, no recreation programs will be held regardless of weather conditions that evening. Any cancelled sessions may be rescheduled at the instructor’s discretion. The Recreation Commission reserves the right to suspend any individual enrolled in a program for disciplinary reasons. Neither partial nor full refund will be made. Further questions may be directed to the Recreation Office, 617-0100 between 9 am and 4 pm. Only checks or money orders made payable to Marlboro Recreation will be accepted. DO NOT SEND CASH. This year, we will again offer a diverse range of programs for all of our residents’ benefit and enjoyment. I am pleased to announce that we have added several new programs this season, including drawing and painting classes for adults and kids; a baseball card show; and additional teen nights for our teenagers to enjoy. We will continue to provide educational activities such as acting and cooking classes for children, our three-day science program (over spring break), and the popular Kids Discovery Day so our children can learn about dinosaurs. For the sports enthusiasts, lacrosse for boys and girls, our award winning soccer program and basketball superstar camp are just some of the activities that are available. Our teens can enjoy our band showcases where bands will battle to see which ones are truly the best. In addition, we are pleased again to provide our summer concert series, which is a chance for all of our community to come out and enjoy great music with your neighbors during an evening under the stars in our wonderful community. Be sure to mark your calendar for these special events. And don’t forget the event of this year, Marlboro Day, where we will come together and celebrate our 25th anniversary of this special town event. Here is a sample of what is available: Some of the new adult classes being offered are drawing and watercolor. We’ve added more Yoga classes as you requested and running classes during the summer to help keep our adults in shape. Speaking of keeping in shape, there’s our new youth open gym program for 6 and 8 graders called “Shape Up” taught by a certified fitness instructor, and a Mother and/or Daughter Aerobics and Sculpt Program. Like basketball, fresh air and music? Then you’ll really enjoy the 4 vs. 4 Basketball Tournament on our outdoor Recreation courts. Special events for our High School students include Open Basketball, Band Showcases, and an evening of fun-filled Powder Puff Football on our new municipal complex lighted turf field. Here are the dates, so be sure to mark your calendar: Sunday June 29 at 7:30 PM for a sensational Celebration of Independence plus another spectacular fireworks th display, Sunday July 13 at 6:30 PM it’s Family Fun Night and our final concert is on th Sunday July 27 at 7:30 PM. As we are now in the process of finalizing our musical performers for these great events, you will be notified as soon as we receive confirmation. Summer in Marlboro means soccer and this year we will be hosting our 21 Annual th Invitational Soccer Tournament. Finally, it’s Sunday, September 14 for Marlboro th Townships’ biggest special event – our 25 Annual Marlboro Day.
