iKEY Operation Guide
1. Turn on iKEY Unit. You may wish to install new batteries (4 AA batteries go inside;
just turn the 4 thumbscrews to open up the unit).
2. Connect to audio source.
3. Insert USB memory stick. Wait 10 seconds. Percentage Full light will blink (20%,
40%, etc.) This tells you how full your memory stick is.
4. When light stops blinking, press SEL until 128 is lit.
(If you start at 128, press select anyway until you return to 128)
5. Set recording levels:
a. Start with Level dial at MIN (dialed all the way to the right).
b. Play audio source.
c. Adjust Level dial towards MAX until Level Clip light goes out.
d. Note: the Level Clip light does double duty. It lights when there is too little
audio, and when there is too much audio (called clipping).
6. Press REC once to start recording.
a. All lights should blink on ONLY ONCE.
b. Your progress light should BLINK during recording.
7. Press REC once to stop recording.
a. All lights should blink on ONLY ONCE.
b. Your progress light should be lit SOLID.
c. You may start recording again by going back to step 6.
8. If you are completely finished recording, you must finalize the audio file. To do
this, press and hold REC for 3 seconds.
a. Wait a few seconds - All the lights should blink THREE TIMES. Do not
remove the memory stick until all lights blink!
b. The recording is finished and the memory stick can be removed.
