					Script Submissions Guidelines

The Jason Miller Playwrights’ Project is a collective of regional stage and screen
writers who gather periodically under the stewardship of Scranton Public Theatre at
The Olde Brick Theater in Scranton to actively challenge and encourage each other in
the creation of viable new scripts.

Approximately six scripts per year will be selected to share with invited guild
members and the general public in a series of staged reading socials, during which
guests will be asked to complete a “scorecard” with constructive criticism and
thoughts regarding continued development of the script. When desirable, readings
will also receive audience in Luzerne County.

Ultimately SPT hopes to find at least one script a year worthy of significant financial
investment and full-stage production. The company is hopeful, however, that scripts
not selected for further development at SPT will catch the interest of film and/or
other stage producers. Scripts are also likely to be made available via small press
publication.

Experienced writers are welcome to submit a one-act or full-length script for review
at any time. All submissions will be reviewed and returned with comment. Selected
writers will be invited to join the project on a participatory level. Participation implies
sitting down with other project writers in an ego-free “script hatchery” to
cooperatively prepare and select the strongest scripts for presentation.

Jason Miller was a Pulitzer Prize, Tony Award-winning, playwright who served as
Scranton Public Theatre’s artistic director for 16 years until his untimely death in May
2001. Among his goals for the theatre was a writer’s forum.
