Although Salsa is the most popular derivative of the Latin
Caribbean dances at this time, Cha-Cha-Cha and Merengue
are also regularly danced at parties and in the clubs. In this
combination beginning class, we will focus on Cha-Cha-
Cha and Merengue, with just a basic introduction to Salsa,
breaking down footwork, hip movement and a variety of
patterns for leading and following. Cha-Cha-Cha is consid-
ered a classic Cuban rhythm, and is danced at a more
relaxed pace than the more modern Salsa, while Merengue
music from the Dominican Republic has an
upbeat, sassy, infectious timing that will get
even the staunchest wallflower on the
dance floor. Both singles and couples are
invited to come learn to dance to these
             uplifting Latin rhythms!

                                P-town Teen Volunteers
A community-based youth service group for Pleasanton teens

What is it?
P-town Teen Volunteers (PTTV) is a group of middle school and high school youth who
engage in youth service in Pleasanton and other parts of the Tri-Valley. The main goal
of PTTV is to get youth involved with their community by planning and implementing
community service projects and supporting the community through volunteerism.
In addition to hands-on community service, PTTV members attend two organizational
meetings a month where they will engage in a host of activities and discussions designed
to help youth participants become responsible, caring and proactive members of the
community.

Why become a member?
More and more, middle school and high school students are being asked to fulfill community
service requirements as part of their class curriculum. PTTV allows students the opportuni-
ty to be proactive in fulfilling these requirements, while getting a deeper look into why
volunteerism and community service is such an important part of the community.

Who can join?
All Pleasanton middle school and high school students are welcome to join. Members are
asked to engage in a minimum number of community service hours each month in order to
stay active in the group (usually no more than 2-4 hours each month not including meetings).

How much does it cost?
PTTV is free to join! Occasionally, members may have the opportunity to attend youth
service conferences, trainings, workshops and retreats; each member will be expected to
pay for these events. As part of the group, members will receive a free PTTV t-shirt and a
fee will be charged for additional t-shirts.

Where do they meet?
PTTV meets the second and last Mondays of each month (excluding school holidays)
6:30pm-8pm at the City of Pleasanton’s Youth Services Office at 333 Division Street,
Pleasanton, California 94566 (directly behind The Museum on Main Street).

Cardio Kickboxing NEW!
Ages 15 and up

                                                                                                                             Exercise & Wellness
Cardio Kickboxing uses all the body’s muscles simultaneously, unlike bicycling, running or even low-impact aerobics. In
addition to being a great workout regimen, students also get instruction in understanding some of the fundamentals of
self-defense . . . kicking and punching as well as how to move and react in various situations. This powerful new sport
and its fast paced, non-stop action is certain to pack a punch with everyone coast to coast! Recommended equipment:
Hand wraps and boxing gloves. Location: Jue’s Taekwon-Do Studio.

Intermediate Volleyball
The intent of this class is to fine-tune the basic volleyball techniques and to help build confidence for young athletes, so
that they can compete at a more competitive level. Young athletes will have an opportunity to develop basic skills and
learn how to apply them in real game situations. Our goal is to help each individual improve his or her skill level while
also understanding the role of each player on a team.
