CAREER PATHWAYS
The “Career Pathways” program helps students follow a well organized, more focused plan in setting their academic goals. Throughout this guide courses will be recommended for specific pathways. Please refer to the following descriptions of the six pathways.
Pathway Description
Careers related to humanities and performing, visual, literary, and media arts. Sample career titles include artist, journalist, and graphic designer. These careers are interesting to people who value creativity
Career Options
Newscaster, Teacher of the Arts, Author, Journalist, Technical Writer, Public Relations Specialist, Motion Picture Photographer, Archeologist, Archivist and Curator (history or art museum)
Arts and Communication
Business Management, Marketing and Technology
Careers related to all aspects of business including accounting, business administration, finance, information processing, and marketing. Examples of career titles in this pathway include accountant, business manager, and auto salesperson. You may be interested in this career pathway if you are good with math and enjoy being the leader of a club or captain of a team.
Accountant, Financial Planner, Retail Buyer, Internet Administrator, Information Technology Auditor or Project Manager, City Manager, Economist, Programmer Analyst, Software Engineer
Engineering, Manufacturing and Industrial Technology
Careers related to technologies necessary to design, develop, install, or maintain physical systems. Working with tools, equipment and other kinds of machinery are important to people who have careers in this pathway.
Computer Engineer, Computer Hardware Designer, Database Engineer, Architect, Chemist, Marine Architect, Engineers: Automotive, Chemical, Civil, Electrical,. Manufacturing, etc.
Health Services
Careers related to the promotion of health as well as the treatment of injuries and disease. Examples of career titles in this pathway are physician, nurse, veterinarian. You may be interested in this career pathway if you have a genuine interest in the human body and systems and a genuine desire for the well being of people and animals. Careers related to child care, civil service, education, hospitality, and social services. Career titles in this pathway include counselor, teacher, or religious leader (rabbi, priest, minister). A successful candidate for this field would demonstrate strong communication skills and values interaction with others. Careers related to natural resources, agriculture and environment. Fish and game warden, marine biologist and farmer are career titles in this pathway. A desire to work in nature and a love for outdoors may be indicators of interest in this pathway.
