AP Lab #1 Lab Report-Diffusion and Osmosis
Results
 Part A- Include Results from Table 1
 Part B-Include data of solution vs. % change in mass
-Graph results for your group and class average
 Part C-Include data of solution vs. % change in mass
-Graph results for your group and class average
 Part D-Calculate solute potential for each of the 6 tested molarities and the sucrose
             molarity in the potato cells
 Part E- Draw what the cells looked like in a distilled and in a 15% NaCl solution

Questions
 1. In part A, which of the 4 molecules were able to move in or out of the dialysis tubing?
 2. In part B, explain the relationship between the change in mass and the molarity of the
    sucrose solution.
 3. Using the graph from part C, determine the molarity of the sucrose in the potato cells
 4. Suppose the dialysis bags were placed in beakers containing 0.4 M sucrose as opposed to
distilled water. How do you think your results would change? Sketch a graph to show how
the mass of each of the bags would be affected.
 5. Would the water potential of the potato cells change if the potato cylinders were allowed to
dry out? If so, in what way would the water potential change?
