         Pasco Wal-Mart Supercenter Opens Monday; Grand Opening
                    Celebration on Wednesday, Jan. 25
                 Store’s impact seen in 324 new jobs and $35,000 in charitable donations

PASCO, Wash., Jan. 18, 2006 – Creating 324 new jobs and focusing on charitable support and every day low
prices, the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Pasco will open to the public on Monday, Jan. 23, at 7 a.m., and celebrate its
grand opening at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25. The store is located at 4820 N. Road 68.

Store features
According to Store Manager Buckley Bintorio, the new 205,000-square-foot Wal-Mart Supercenter features 36
general merchandise departments including apparel and accessories, fine jewelry, a lawn and garden center, health
and beauty aids, and a full line of electronics. In addition, the store offers a bakery, a delicatessen, a frozen food
section and meat, dairy and fresh produce sections. It will be open to customers 24 hours a day, seven days a
week and will include 10 full-service, 12 express and 10 self check-out lanes.

Other store features include: a Tire & Lube Express, a Subway restaurant, a family fun center, a portrait studio, a
one-hour photo lab, a vision center, a pharmacy with two drive-up lanes, a Smart Style hair salon and a Regal nail
salon. In addition, the store will have a Wal-Mart Connect Center for wireless phone sales.

Grand opening activities – Wednesday, Jan. 25
McLoughlin Middle School students will perform the national anthem and a local Boy Scout troop will present the
colors. Members of the Pasco Chamber of Commerce along with the Pasco mayor and Store Manager Bintorio will
cut the ribbon to the new store. Other activities planned during the grand opening event include numerous product
samples, character appearances and give-aways.

Employment
The store will employ approximately 324 associates, most of which will be full-time. More than 800 people
applied for jobs at the new store, according to Bintorio. The average wage at Wal-Mart for full-time hourly
associates in Washington is $10.61 per hour.*

“There are so many opportunities for our Wal-Mart associates,” said Bintorio. “It always makes me smile to see
the number of applicants who want to wear our Wal-Mart vest and realize the career path they could achieve.”

Charitable giving
Upon its opening, the store will announce $35,000 in donations through Wal-Mart’s Good Works community
involvement program to a number of organizations. The store will also have a budget to give donations away
locally throughout the year. Organizations interested in receiving funding can contact the store for details. Groups
receiving donations upon the store’s opening include:

In 2004, Wal-Mart Stores and SAM'S CLUB gave $1,742,542 to local causes and organizations in the communities
they serve in the state of Washington. In addition, many charities and organizations received in-kind donations and
additional funds raised through stores, CLUBS and distribution centers in the amount of $590,295, for a grand total
of $2,332,837 contributed through Wal-Mart's presence across the state.
