Cube-in-a-cube Step 1 Copy and paste the following link to the file and tutorial location. http://ehhsteched.wikispaces.com/TE510 Locate the following file template cube-in-a-cube .5 depth.mcx right click and Save Target As… Save it in a temp file or to a disk. Open the file in MasterCAM X4 Step 2 • Right click in the toolbar area and make sure Planes and Cplanes toolbars are checked. • Select the WCS toolbar icon and set to Plane by geometry. Step 3 • Select the Cplanes toolbar icon and set to Cplane by geometry • Hold Alt and press 1 (or go to view standard views) • Screen should look like this Step 4 • Select from the top menu bar Toolpaths Pocket Click the green arrow to continue Step 5 • Select chain • Then select one of the circles on any side of the block • The green arrow should face counter clockwise if it does not select the reverse icon • Click the green arrow when done Step 6 • Select Tool use a ½ straight bit • Select linking parameters • Make the depth -0.5 Step 7 • You have just created the first of 6 Toolpaths. • The blue lines are the path that the tool will take. Step 8 • Click verify to see if the Toolpath works Step 9 • Use the center mouse button to rotate the cube so you can watch it cut. • Press the play button to watch the tool cut. Step 10 • Repeat steps 3 – 7 on each side of the cube • Use Alt + (2-5) to quickly look at each side of the cube. • Be sure to have all arrows rotating counterclockwise
