  Community Assessment Teams since
  1996.
• The team helps communities learn about
  new ways to achieve their goals.

  serve on the team

        What’s the Process?
          Three Phases

2. The Team Visit
3. After the Team Visit

Your CAT Representative is with you
       in All Three Phases
1. Leads the Team during the visit.
2. Follows up after the visit.
3. Works with the community before the visit
   to advise on the process and application.

            Before the Visit
1. The community interacts with their
   regional CAT representative to learn
   more about the program.
2. Members of the community complete an
   application outlining issues and goals for
   the visit.

          Before the visit…
3. A statewide advisory board reviews
   the application.
4. The CAT Representative visits the
 community to learn more about the issues
 and how the community will support the
 Team visit.

          Before the visit…
5. The CAT Representative & the
  community decide on dates for the visit.
6. The CAT representative recruits team
   members based on community issues.

          Before the visit…
7. The community arranges housing,
   meals, and meeting space for the
   Team in consultation with the CAT
   representative.
8. The community publicizes the Team’s
   visit to assure good participation at
   community meetings.

           During the Visit
1. The community provides briefings and
   tours for the Team.
2. The Team facilitates community meetings
   to discuss the issues raised in the
   community’s application.
3. The Team reports to the community on its
   preliminary recommendations.

            After the Visit
1. The Team refines their recommendations
   integrates them into a written report to
   the community.
2. Roughly six months after the visit, the
 CAT representative meets with the
 community to review progress and
 brainstorm on ways to overcome obstacles.

              Outcomes
1. Enhanced communication within the
   community about issues and
   approaches.
2. Verbal report to community on the final
   day of the visit.
3. Written report within 8 weeks of the
   visit.

                Example
Presque Isle County CAT:
• Focus was economic development
• CAT Report recommended new structure
   for economic development that resulted
   in millions of dollars of new infrastructure
   investment and jobs.
