NOTICE OF A MEETING OF PADDOCK WOOD TOWN COUNCIL TO BE HELD ON
Monday 27th April 2009, at the Day Centre, Commercial Road, at 7.45 p.m.

To receive a presentation from the Borough Council’s Engineering Officer and
Communications Manager on the proposed new Borough Signs.

C143 DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST
C144 MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING
To APPROVE the minutes of the meeting held on 16th March 2009.
C145 MATTERS ARISING FROM THE PREVIOUS MEETING
A letter had been sent to Southern Water regarding the odour from the water
treatment plant. Southern Water had called the Clerk to advise that de-
odorising work had taken place over the last few weeks and asked to be
notified if any more complaints were received.
C146 ANNUAL TOWN MEETING
The Annual Town Meeting will take place on Wednesday 22nd April 2009.
The Chairman will advise members of any issues which are raised at the
meeting.
C147 TOWN TWINNING
A meeting was held on the 30th April 2009 for local groups to establish
whether or not there was any interest in establishing a Town Twinning
Association. Eighteen representatives attended, and the Chairman of
Wadhurst Twinning Association gave a brief presentation. It was agreed that
the representatives would speak to their organisations and let the Council
know the level of interest.
The Council has also been sent a letter from the Town Council in Bereko,
Tanzania, with whom both the local schools and Church have a link. (Copies
attached) Following a discussion with the Chair of the Tanzania link it is
suggested that letter of friendship should be sent to the Bereko Council in the
first instance.
C148 KICK START BID
The Council is asked for its views on the proposed bid to improve the bus
routes 6 and 7. (See attached letter)
C149 FINANCE
(a) To APPROVE the attached receipts and payments list.
(b) The Council’s audit date is 1st June 2009. The internal auditor will carry out
his audit week commencing 11th May 2009. The Accounts must be ready for
public inspection from the 30th April until the 29th May 2009. The Accounts
and Annual Statement will be available for approval and signing at the May
meeting.
(c) Paddock Wood and District Lions have made a request for financial
assistance from the Town Council towards the costs of running the carnival.
Although Kent Police are not charging for their services the cost to
contractors for the erection of the diversion signs is £318 must be paid by the
Lions. The Council is asked to assist with this cost.
C150 KENT HIGHWAYS
To receive a report from the Chairman who attended the recent Joint
Transport Meeting in Tunbridge Wells.
C151 FUTURE MEETINGS
To APPROVE the calendar of meetings for 2009 –2010.
C152 FOR INFORMATION
(a) Details of the Borough Council’s new household waste, recycling and street
cleansing provider are attached.
(b) The Annual Report from Paddock Wood Library is attached.
C153 DATE OF NEXT MEETING
The Annual Meeting of the Town Council will be held on Monday 18 th May
2009, at 7.45 in The Day Centre.
Due to the confidential nature of the business to be transacted the press and public will be
excluded under section 1 (2) of the Public Bodies (admission to meetings) act 1960 for the
following items.
