                                               Official Rules
    WHO can participate?
    The contest is open to New York State students in three categories:
                Grades K through 2nd;
                Grades 3rd through 5th
                Grades 6th through 8th
    There will be one winner chosen from each of the three grade categories.

    WHAT are the judges looking for?
    •   Student Entry Forms and poster art will be judged by New York State Consumer Protection
        Board (CPB) personnel based on the following criteria: creativity, originality, poster concept,
        adherence to the poster topic and technical specifications (on other page.)
    •   The poster art entry must be accompanied by a completed Student Entry Form with parent or
        adult guardian contact information.
    •   Poster artwork submitted without the entry form will not be eligible for the contest.

          WHEN is the deadline for submission?

          Student Entry Forms and poster art entries must be received via              Deadlin
          U.S. Mail or other courier no later than Friday, January 25, 2008.
          Late entries will not be included in the contest. Each entrant will
          receive a certificate of participation.

          WHERE should the entries be sent?

    All entries submitted become the property of the CPB and may be used in future CPB
       publications. Poster art will not be returned.

          CONTEST WINNERS
                      • Three grand prize winners will be selected (one from each grade category). The
                        parent or adult guardian named on the Student Entry Form will be notified on

                        Monday February 4, 2008, by telephone as well as e-mail.
                      • Winning artwork will be publicly announced and displayed.
                      • Each grand prize winner will receive a $50 United States Savings Bond. Note: In
                        order to receive the Savings Bond, the parent or adult guardian of the winner will
                        need to supply to the CPB personal information that will be used for contest
                        purposes only.

                 What You Need to Know to Get Started:
                 Type of Artwork:
                 You must create original artwork.
                 Mediums:
                 Artwork may be done in pencil, colored pencil, crayon, acrylic paints, markers or pen
                 and ink.
                 Message of Artwork:
                 All artwork should illustrate what toy safety means to you.
                 Format of Artwork:
                 All artwork must be hand drawn. No electronic or computer-generated artwork will
                 be accepted. Any text used should be dark and clearly written so it is easy to read.
                 Layout of Artwork:
                 Landscape (horizontal layout, rather than portrait or vertical layout)
                 Dimensions of Artwork:
                 Minimum size ~ 11” wide by 8/5” high
                 Maximum size ~ 17” wide by 11” high
                 Content Requirements:
                 All artwork must be original in design and production. Trademarked images, such as
                 Disney characters, etc. will not be accepted.
