					Example Lesson Plans – Learning Centres To Support Guided Reading
These examples are to show how many of the activities in the book can be used with older students. Any of the titles used can be substituted with
other titles. These lesson plans focus on comprehension strategies and aim to explicitly teach these strategies. It is important that each strategy is
clearly demonstrated and then students have the chance to practice that strategy. You can see how you may lead into learning centre groups to
free you to teach guided reading. Shared reading or read aloud would take approx. 20 minutes each day and the small group activities would take
20-30 minutes each day. If students finish early, they would continue the activity on another text.
