1. Email setup
You can setup your Blackberry to automatically fetch email from the Exchange server, either directly
from your phone or by going to your wireless service provider’s site. On your phone, go to Setup>Email
Settings and follow the instructions.

You might also want to change the default settings. Go to the email application, press the menu button
and choose Options>Email settings. By default Confirm Delivery will be set to Yes, which means your
recipients will be prompted to acknowledge receipt of your email.
2. Synchronization
You cannot at this point synchronize your calendar and contacts over the air, but can do so with the
Blackberry Desktop Manager. When you connect your device to your PC, it should automatically launch
the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and synchronize. If it is not already installed on your machine, you can
download it from http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/).

Please do not accept any updates for the Desktop Manager. They are not recommended as we do not
use the Enterprise version yet. You can turn the update feature off by doing the following:
• Click Check for updates in the Desktop
    Manager application

• Click on this icon

• Uncheck the update option

To configure synchronization, go to Synchronize>Configure>Synchronization to get this screen:
click the Synchronization button on the right and choose the information you want to synchronize:

Normally during synchronization, if there are conflicts between your device and your computer, you will
be prompted for action. If you want another action, e.g. for your computer to always win, choose
“Advanced…” and Conflict resolution under the appropriate information tab.

3. Other applications
You may install third-party applications on your BlackBerry using the “Blackberry App World”. Get his
application by visiting http://mobile.blackberry.com/, or, from your Blackberry,
http://www.blackberry.com/appworld. The application shows popular applications or lets you search for
one:
Some interesting applications are:

• Google Mobile for search, maps, etc. also available from
    http://m.google.com
• WeatherEye, Weather forecast from the Weather Network
    (Météomédia) http://weyebb.pelmorex.com/BlackBerry
