I have worked to correct an out of balance financial statement and set up accounting procedures. Over saw the set up of the membership directory publication in-house and member’s only website. Setup online credit card system to eliminate costly mistakes from staff. Set up and provide monthly reports for the Board of Governors & management staff. Controller –May 2004 to August 2005 Lexington Community Association and Country Club Ft. Myers, Florida Run an accounting office of a bundled community taking care of four condo associations, two neighborhoods, one country club with two outlets and the master community association. Reorganized and streamlined the accounting office to function more productively. Setup the newsletter production and membership directory publication in-house to save out sourcing cost. Setup online credit card system to eliminate costly mistakes from staff, found cost savings to minimize long distance cost and trash removal cost. Provided more detail written reports to the condo association to give them the felling they had better control. I left the Fort Myers area to move to Georgia to be closer to family. Controller –2002 to May 2004 Wildcat Run Country Club Estero, Florida Run a club accounting office with two other employees. Members were taking over control of the club from WCI. Set up (Jonas) accounting software and accounting computers in my home so every thing would be ready for the turnover date. With eleven years of prior work history with Wildcat Run Development the Wildcat Run Turnover committee felt my experience was very valuable. Started out working with a general manager and then after fourteen months the general manager was fired and the Board chose to work in a management team environment. My duties included overseeing payroll, accounts payable, receivables, general ledger, fixed assets, club web site, memberships, prepare budgets and any other specialty reports. Meet monthly with Finance Committee and Board of Governors. Current staff includes two accounting employees and administrative assistant. I left this position when a better opportunity was offered to me. Controller –1998 to 2002 The Vines Country Club So. Ft. Myers, Florida Run a club accounting office with two other employees. Members were taking over control of the club from the developer, they wanted a new general manager and controller to come in and make needed changes. After eighteen months the general manager was fired and the Board decided to function with out a general manager. We worked without a general manager in a management team environment. My duties were to oversee payroll, accounts payable, receivables, general ledger, fixed assets, employee benefits, web site and membership. Prepare budgets, many other reports and meet monthly with Finance Committee and Board of Governors. Staff included two accounting employees, receptionist, membership director, administrative assistant and receptionist. Left this job to return to Wildcat Run to assist in the turn over from the developer and return to a general manager form of operations. West Coast General Accounting Manager Jan ‘98-Sept ’98 WCI Communities, LP Bonita Springs, Florida Wildcat Run Development sold out to WCI Communities and I was transferred into their general accounting department. Headed up a team of four accountants working on reconciliation’s, internal auditing in preparation for company to merge with Florida Design and prepare to go public. Responsible for booking real estate sales, payroll and regular general accounting entries to produce a monthly financial statement. Left to go back into the Club environment. Controller and Office Manager 1987-1998 Wildcat Run Development Corporation Estero, Florida Ran an office of five employees and help oversee the running of the whole company, which employed seventy-five employees. Purchase insurance for the project from property & liability to group insurance and benefits. Setup and maintain ten sets of books. The needs for these ten companies were varied. All companies required monthly financial statements, accounts payable, payroll and accounts receivable. The construction company and landscape companies required job costing. The country club had point of sale terminals and inventory. It was my job to keep the accounting and computer needs up and running. Prepare budgets and reports for annual meetings. Full knowledge of several kinds of software (Lotus, WordPerfect, PageMaker, CCS, Libra, Build Soft, Windows, Microsoft Office, Rapid File. Novel network, Microsoft Office). Wildcat was purchased by WCI and I was transferred to the corporate office. Bookkeeper 1886-1987 Ellen Springer CPA Firm Cape Coral, Florida Responsibilities: Setup new clients; prepare monthly bookkeeping, financial statements, and working trial balances in preparation for final tax return. In office audit preparation. Payroll depositories, quarterly reports, 1099's, w-2's. Sales tax returns and other periodic returns and Internal Revenue responses. Maintain cash & accrual books for contractors, retail sales, corporations, partnerships and sole proprietors. Left when a more challenging opportunity was offered by Wildcat Development. Bookkeeper Seven Lakes Association 1984-1986 Ft. Myers, Florida Maintain weekly payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable; gather data for journal entries for financial statements. Create and build special reports for board of trustees, managers, budget committee and other special interest groups. Operations Manager and Controller Bank of Grove (Currently bought out by Bank of Oklahoma in Tulsa) 1976-1984 Grove, Oklahoma Responsible for daily financial statement of bank’s position, over see all areas of daily operations concerning tellers, proof and customer account. Buying and selling of bonds and fed funds. Teller and Customer Accounts Bank of Grove 1974-1976 Grove, Oklahoma Responsible for commercial accounts, Certificates of Deposits and Customers Files. In 2004 while serving as President we brought our chapter forward to claim the chapter of the year award along with special honors for retention and growth.
