WHK Group leads mid-tier accounting firms in Top 100 list

BRW Magazine recently published the 2008 list of Australia’s Top 100 Accounting Firms
(September 4 – 10 issue) based on fees received in the 2007/2008 financial year. The list
identifies WHK Group as one of the major growth stories among mid-tier accounting firms,
maintaining and further consolidating its position as the 5th highest ranked firm in the country.

In a year of considerable merger and acquisition activity among mid-tier firms, WHK Group
fared most successfully with a growth of 24.68% in fees received, to $330,548,000, across its
15 offices. A significant factor in this growth was the acquisition of Grant Thornton’s Perth
office and the Brisbane practice of William Buck.

Due to its publicly listed corporate structure, WHK Group provides accountancy partners with
an alternative approach to practice, by eliminating partnership disputes and delivering a
ready source of capital to fund expansion.

Managing Director Kevin White states that “[WHK is] able to provide the benefits of a listed
company and we can focus on HR and IT on a national basis”. He anticipates further growth
in the coming year, due in part to the emphasis being placed on expanding into the Adelaide

So while other mid-tier firms jostle with each other to move up the ladder, WHK has once
again proved to be the dominant force in this sector, breaking away from the pack and
providing a clear alternative to the Big Four.
