Tampa placed behind San Francisco but ahead of Boston, Houston, Charlotte, and Los Angeles. The ranking calculates the number of people using the connections, how long they have had them, and how many people expect to get broadband in the next 12 months. Tampa Tribune, May, 2003 ANNOUNCEMENTS  TSI TELECOMMUNICATION SERVICES INC., headquartered in Tampa, Florida is expanding its services operations for the wireless industry. TSI added 200 new employees and 17,000 square feet at its Tampa City Center offices, located at 201 North Franklin Street. Raymond L. Lawless, Chief Financial Officer for TSI said, “ We sincerely appreciate the assistance provided to us by the Chamber’s Committee of 100, Enterprise Florida, the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County.”  ASSET ACCEPTANCE, a major financial services firm specializing in debt acquisition and management, is expanding its local office, by doubling its workspace to nearly 53,000 square feet and adding 311 new employees. Plans are occupy their new space in Firstpark @Brandon by February 2004, investing over $3.75 million in construction, renovation and other equipment. According to R. H. “Bud” Reitzel, company CEO “We appreciate the assistance provided to us by Enterprise Florida, Workforce Florida, Hillsborough County, Cheri O’Neil at Carter & Associates, Bob Krueger and the team at First Industrial and the Chamber’s Committee of One Hundred.” SORENSEN MOVING & STORAGE C O. INC., headquartered in Melbourne, Florida, is bringing a moving and storage facility to Plant City/Hillsborough County. Sorensen Moving and Storage also has facilities in Orlando and is an agent for Allied Van Lines, the world’s largest moving company. Scott Sorensen, company president and CEO commented, “We have been highly successful in the Florida market and this new business expansion will help us to better serve our clients on the west central coast of Florida. Secondly, we plan to establish our international business in Tampa and have  already met with the Tampa Port Authority to discuss the Port’s new agreements with Zim Container. We appreciate the assistance we received from the Chamber’s Committee of One Hundred in setting up such important meetings.” With a capital investment of $500,000, the company has executed a lease for 32,953 square feet in Walden Distribution Center in Plant City in a transaction managed by Hal Piper, Advantis Real Estate Services. Plans are to hire 25-30 employees and occupy their new space by February 2004.
