In addition to the Cenotaph (1928), Central Memorial Park is the location of several other memorials and monuments that commemorate our war veterans. At the Cenotaph Plaza, you’ll find the North and South Cenotaph Benches (1928), the Eternal Flame (1967), the Burma Star Memorial (1996), the ANZAC Memorial (2004), and the Royal Canadian Legion Commemorative Medallion (1994). Also near this area is the Drinking Fountain (1930). At the centre of the park is the Horseman of the Plains, a 1914 equestrian statue in honour of Albertans who fought in the Second Boer War. On the east side of the park in front of the library building is a World War I soldier statue that was erected in 1924 by the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire. Found near the south side of the building is the Rt. Hon. Richard Bedford Bennett Monument, unveiled in 1953 by the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada.

Remembrance Day Ceremonies at Central Memorial Park While Central Memorial Park is closed for renovations until the Spring of 2009, this year's annual Remembrance Day ceremonies will go ahead as planned. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Tuesday November 11 at the Cenotpaph Plaza found on the west end of the park. Central Memorial Park is located at 1221 - 2 Street SW.

Experience this exciting exhibition of 23 new works by Dominic Besner, accompanied by a unique fashion collection designed exclusively for Au Fil de l'Art. This young, dynamic mixed media artist from Montreal uses dreamlike characters, brilliant colours and architectural elements to achieve an unparalleled richness and depth to his works. Besner's unique vision has inspired fashion designers from Morocco, Montreal, Toronto and Calgary to join this amazing exhibition. These designers' remarkable creations will be exhibited with Besner's dynamic large-scale pieces, creating a marriage between two mediums. Opening vernissage: November 13, 6 to 9pm.
Nov 14 to Dec 13 - Joseph Kohnke's Hollow at Stride Gallery Joseph Kohnke’s work Hollow will be featured in Stride Gallery’s main space. Kohnke’s work seeks to examine spaces and objects that we exist with on a daily basis. Pneumatic mechanisms have been incorporated into his mixed media works and installations, alluding to various
modes of respiration. The movement of air acts as a positioning in social spaces, our relationships with objects and the liminal effects of these actions.
