Bowling Event
Colleen Halbert, Events coordinator is pleased with the Bowling Event. Everyone had a great time, we made $2,500 and had diverse group of bowlers. If you missed this event, be looking for details for the next one in coming issues.
Garland Police Pin Heads Kappa’s
Shelter Update
Progress at the shelter is slow. We have installed some additional security measures to have in place during construction phase. Right now everything is in the drawing stages. We have had meeting with the structural engineer, the architect, and the disabilities specialist. They have all made their suggestions and the architects are at work. We continue to accept a few clients and are providing them with all services. Meals are still as issue and have to be purchased from a local restaurant or donated.
Stein Mart Trade- In Trade Up days
Twice a year Stein Mart Department Stores partner with local domestic violence agency’s to th bring you Trade In Trade Up days. This year we will be in the Rockwall Stein Mart March 29 , th st 30 31 and April 1. Customers bring clean, gently warn clothing to Stein Mart 2855 Ridge Road in Rockwall. In exchange for each garment donated, they receive a coupon (maximum 4) worth 20% off any one item at Stein Mart. We provide the volunteers, tax receipts and get all the clothing donated for our clients. And YOU can help. I need 36 volunteers during the store hours for those four days and you can get 20% off your favorite four items at Stein Mart. February 2006 - Semi-Annual Cell-Phone and Ink Cartridge Drive - Multiple Locations (Listed below) Each cell phone or ink/toner cartridge donated will be recycled by the agency in exchange for funds to be used to benefit victims of domestic violence. Susan Coffey, Kristi Broadus and Katherine Johnson are helping the entire development department. Karen Revel is greeting clients and working the front desk Wed and Thur evenings. Kris Kober has already been to monitor domestic violence courts. Rochelle Ritzi is working at the shelter. Joey Garza has been working on trophies for the next car show. Long standing volunteers: Barbara Tubb represented the agency at Richardson ISD Community Resource Fair. Patrick Nowlin keeps all of lights burning inside and out. Sarah Thorpe took minutes at board of directors meeting. Anne Curtis just keeps the volunteer packets ready and waiting for new volunteers. David Christenson keeps the shelter (what’s left of it) in the best repair that he can. Interns: We appreciate our interns who are providing a second semester of counseling to clients at the agency. Volunteers PLEASE remember to sign your name at the BOTTOM of your volunteer time sheet. That line is there at the request of our grantors and if you don’t sign it then we have a ‘finding’ on our grant audit.
