INSURANCE PROGRAMS
The California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.) is proud to endorse the following insurance programs as a benefit of membership. MEDICAL HEALTH PLAN
C.A.R. endorse Jardine Insurance Brokers of San Jose as the broker of records for a variety of health coverage for its members. Real Care Insurance Marketing is the “marketing arm” of Jardine Insurance Brokers. Please call Real Care ate (800) 939-8088 for further information or for the name and telephone number of the insurance agent nearest you. The Health Insurance Plan of California (HPIC) is a guaranteed issue plan, i.e., no one can be turned down based on health conditions. Rates are based on age, location and insurance carrier, not health status. You must be a C.A.R. member for at least two months prior to acceptance in the HPIC plan, but once accepted all family members may join. Members may only join HPIC during the annual open enrollment period.
DENTAL/VISION/PRESCRIPTION
A discount card for prescriptions, vision, hearing, and chiropractic care is available for C.A.R. members through Jardine Insurance Brokers of San Jose. For more information on the card itself and the discounts available, please call Real care Insurance Marketing at (800) 939-8088. The discount card may be used with your health insurance plan or can be used alone. Members can choose their own provider from a list of hundreds who are pre-approved and pre-screened. For quality and service. There are no restrictions on the number of times you my use the discount card. The discount card offers varying degree (up to 50%) without the burden of premiums from C.A.R. members and their families.
DISABILITY
C.A.R. endorses the Real Income Disability Plan underwritten by Combined Life Insurance Company for Long Term Disability. C.A.R. endorses American Family Life Assurance Company for short-term (sickness and hospitable intensive care) Disability and Accident Policies. LIFE/ACCIDENTAL DEATH AND DISMEMBERMENT
C.A.R. endorses the American Bankers Life Insurance plan for C.A.R. groups or individuals that need life insurance coverage. The broker of records is Jardine Insurance Brokers of San Jose. Please call Real Care Insurance Marketing (800) 939-8088 for further information or for the name and telephone number of the insurance agent nearest you. Starting in March 1995, C.A.R. members are entitled to receive a FREE $2,000 accidental death and dismemberment policy as a benefit of membership. AIG Life Insurance Company will issue the policy. REALTORS® may purchase additional coverage if they desire but they are entitles to the $2,000 coverage regardless of whether additional coverage is purchased. Information about this program will be distributed to all REALTORS® starting in March 1995.
BUSINESS OFFICE POLCY

WORKERS‘ COMPENSATION
C.A.R. endorses the State Compensation Insurance Fund for Workers’ Compensation Insurance. C.A.R. Continues its longstanding advice that as a matter of prudent business judgment, REALTORS® should provide this coverage to all salespersons and independent contractors as well as all employees. LEGAL EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENT (REALEX)
C.A.R. endorses Lloyds of London for Legal Expense Reimbursement. Gibson administers this program & Company Insurance Brokers Inc. Realex was developed to serve two (2) purposes. One is to supplement existing errors and omission policy and the second is to provide some form of reimbursement for legal expenses for those individuals and firms without errors and omissions coverage. ERRORS & OMISSIONS
C.A.R. endorses the Errors & Omission Insurance Program underwritten by Employers Reinsurance Corporation, brokered through Kirke-Van Orsdel Inc., and marketed by American Home Shield for residential and commercial brokers.
