KERATAN AKHBAR SURAT KHABAR THE STAR 27/12/09 TARIKH MUKA SURAT N27 JABATAN BKAS Time will run out for usâ¨if we do not change now a THE world has little timeâ¨to prevent the extinction ofâ¨humankind. . Indeed, if we do not changeâ¨our ways of development that areâ¨based on total resource allocationâ¨and extraction, the time willâ¨come quite soon when our abilityâ¨to live as humans in harmonyâ¨will come to an end. Therefore these current yearsâ¨are the most precious for us toâ¨change global outcomes, as itâ¨takes decades to put globalâ¨solutions in place. In this respect, by 2050 thereâ¨will be no lead-time left toâ¨reverse human beings' dire state. Many things dictate this, butâ¨they are predominantly: > UP to 11 billion humans toâ¨feed, clothe and give shelterâ¨(according to the UN, a furtherâ¨four billion inhabitants based uponâ¨normal fertility rates, and whereâ¨we currently have more than oneâ¨billion people starving daily): > WATER running dryâ¨(Europe's source in the Alps, theâ¨Ganges River in India, the Yellowâ¨River in China, the Colorado River a modern society: and > DEPLETION of naturalâ¨resources that cannot beâ¨replenished. Overall the world is headingâ¨towards a time when solutionsâ¨cannot be found, as time willâ¨have literally run out to doâ¨anything about our dire state. For it has to be said that inâ¨another 40 years we shall just notâ¨have the time to solve anythingâ¨other than to suffer the conse¬â¨quences of global wars to attainâ¨economic resources, famine andâ¨drought. That is where we are headingâ¨now with no signs of any changeâ¨- the Copenhagen Agreementâ¨being a pointer to this very fact. We therefore implore allâ¨leaders of nations to act now, forâ¨now we have time to preventâ¨human oblivion. Thereafter, weâ¨shall not have this option to do so. ^Overall theâ¨world isâ¨headingâ¨towards a timeâ¨when solutionsâ¨cannot beâ¨founds in the US, etc.); > GLOBAL food shortagesâ¨through climate change, with aâ¨predicted world populationâ¨explosion over the next fourâ¨decades; > GLOBAL warming; > UNATTAINABLE energy needsâ¨for the economic construction ofâ¨the developing world; > EXTINCTION of rare earthâ¨elements that are vital to support DR DAVID HILL,â¨Executive Director,â¨World Innovationâ¨Foundation Charity,â¨Switzerland.
