A programme of archaeological work was carried out on the site. The surviving buildings on the site
consist of a late 19th century cottage, abutted by a modern workshop. The present Warwick House

linen drapers building was also late 19th century in date. Three trenches were excavated and identified
a medieval boundary to Malvern Priory, first identified in 1996. A later medieval pit and a 17th-18th
century gully were identified as cutting this ditch. [Au(abr)]

A small scale excavation was undertaken at the site. A 12th/14th century bank boundary ditch was
identified, which was recut in the late medieval period. In the fill of the recut a 17th century brick
foundation possibly of a wall was identified. A 17th/18th century brick lined cess pit was also

A salvage record was made on groundworks during the creation of a new staircase. The earliest feature
was a surface, possibly a hearth sealed by Roman deposits. These deposits were sealed by black earth
cut by a medieval pit, which in turn was cut by a post-medieval pit and 17th century foundations.

An archaeological salvage recording was carried out on groundworks at the site. The earliest feature
was a ditch sealed by a surface containing Roman slag. A Roman dated ditch cut the surface. A large
pit also cut the surface and was probably a cess pit of medieval date. A post-medieval pit and structure

A watching brief was maintained on groundworks associated with a flood alleviation scheme. Piling
found at a depth of 4m wooden timbers possibly associated with a medieval quay. These timbers were
overlain by 19th century material dumped behind the 19th century river wall. A wall was also found of
18th century date during groundworks at Dog Lane. Structures were also located around the present
bridge and are possibly associated with the construction of the bridge. [Au(abr)]
