 Residents feel that they should have been Over the last 10 years there have been at least

the Shire that Council provide a detailed plan of
management for the facility. This will be
developed in consultation with the community.

 Impact of noise from people and The surrounds of the skate park will be

will increase crime statistics for the Wanda

    Links Avenue
 Impacts on coastal views This will be a consideration in the design. The
facility will not interfere with coastal views.
 Too close to Cronulla High School This may be seen as a positive

Site Option 2
Positive Feedback
 Further away from residences Agreed
 Less noise impact on residences Agreed
 Less impact on Sanderson Street car No evidence to support this
    parking
 Large open space area Given the total size of the Wanda reserve. It is
unlikely that the location will have a
                                                   significant impact.
 Level area for building Agreed
 Limited opportunity for expansion Agreed though this could be seen as a negative

Site Option 2
Negative Feedback
 Sand blowing onto facility The design of the Skate park will incorporate
measures to limit the impact of windblown
sand. Maintenance of the facility will be
addressed as part of the plan of management.
 Spoils the foreshore dune area Part of the design requirements will be that the
skate park is carefully integrated into the area
 Noise impact Increased distance to surrounding residences
will result in less noise than other site options.
Noise attenuation will be a consideration in the
                                                   design
 Currently a swimming and surfing area The skate park will not interfere with these
                                                   activities
 Poor visual surveillance Visual surveillance is available from the car
park and the surrounding reserve. Location of
the facility will enhance visual surveillance.
 Conflict of interest with user groups i.e. too Skate boarding and surfing are often seen as
close to the beach complementary activities
 No shade This will be a addressed during design of the
                                                   facility
Site Option 3
Positive Feedback
 Location currently has minimal public use Agreed
 Close to existing toilets, showers and kiosk Agreed
at Wanda Surf Club as well as Cafe in
    Links Avenue
 Ample parking Agreed
 Good supervision for Wanda SLSC and Agreed
    Fitness First Health Club

Negative Feedback
 Serious traffic issues due to the proximity The Skate park will generate relatively little
of Wanda SLSC and Fitness First Health demand for parking and parking for the Skate
Club park will not have a significant impact on
overall demand. The situation will be
monitored as part of the plan of management.
 Noise impact on residences Noise attenuation would need to be considered
                                                 in the design.
 Currently used as a family picnic area, The skate park will be design to be family
particularly after Nippers in the summer friendly. See previous response.
 Steep slope difficult to build on This will add to the cost of construction at this
                                                 site.
 Too many trees would have to be removed The design would require the removal of some
trees - these would be replaced
 Cost of construction may reduce size and Given the steepness of the site this is likely to
or quality of skate facility be the most expensive construction
