COURSE OBJECTIVE

To enable you to excavate safely in the vicinity of underground services

On completion of the course you will:
    Be able to undertake a site specific risk assessment
    Have an understanding of relevant legislation
    Understand a safe system of work

Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
Provision and Use of Work Equipment 1998
Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995
HSG 185 (Health & Safety in Excavations)
HSG 47 (Avoidance of buried apparatus)

Risk Assessment
The principle of risk assessment is to eliminate or reduce the risk of accident, injury
or harm. This being achieved through the identification of risk and the
implementation of appropriate control measures.
