Partners Consulting Services Paid Time Off (PTO) Policy
Effective February 1, 2004, this policy supersedes all other Vacation and Sick Time policies. The Partners Consulting Services PTO policy provides employees with the benefit of time away from work, with pay. Employees are encouraged to schedule and use their PTO. PTO is to be used, with management approval, at the employee’s discretion for any authorized absence away from work: vacation, sick time, and doctor’s visits are examples of authorized use.
Eligibility
All full-time salaried (exempt) and hourly (non-exempt) employees are eligible to accrue and use PTO. This policy specifically excludes temporary consultant employee staff that are placed on assignment at client sites, for the duration of a specific assignment.
Accrual
Accrual commences on the first pay period of employment. However, you must work a minimum of two (2) months before using any PTO. PTO will accrue according to the following schedule: Years of Service Less than 5 5-10 10+ Monthly Accrual 1.25 days 1.67 days 2.09 days Days/Hours per year 15/120 20/160 25/200 Hours per Pay Period 4.616 6.154 7.693
PTO balance and used YTD, in hours, will be reflected on each bi-weekly earnings statement.
Use of PTO
PTO must be scheduled in advance and approved by management, except in cases of illness or emergency. Questions about PTO earned and used should be referred to your manager. PTO must be used or taken in hourly increments. The planned use of PTO for vacation should be requested in writing via electronic mail using the PTO Request form, at least two weeks in advance. Management will endeavor to grant every request after consideration of business and operational needs. Requests for PTO exceeding two weeks duration require executive level approval. When PTO is to be used because of illness or emergency, no prior notice is required but management should be informed as soon as possible.

Maximum Balance
The company encourages employees to make the most of their PTO. As such, it is the company’s policy that employees cannot carry over a balance of more than five (5) days (40 hours) at the end of any calendar year. At management discretion, any employee with a PTO balance that will exceed five (5) days (40 hours) at year-end may be directed to take PTO in order to bring their PTO balance down to no more than five (5) days (40 hours) at the end of the year. If an employee needs time away from work after using up all their PTO hours, the time away, if approved, will be without pay.
Exceptions
Exceptions to various provisions of this policy are possible only with prior management approval. Exceptions, as warranted, might be, for example, the necessity for an employee to use advance PTO or carryover of more than five (5) days (40 hours) at the end of a calendar year.
Payment of Unused PTO
PTO balances will be paid upon the voluntary or involuntary termination of employment.
