Outward Bound Bulletin
With the Outward Bound course slowly approaching, there are a number of
things that we need to start organising now.
First of all we would like thank the fundraising committee of parents for the great efforts they put
into raising money towards reducing the expense for the student group. The Krispy Kreme drive,
the Lamington drive, the Bunnings BBQ, the movie night and the portrait vouchers have all been
significant fundraisers towards the cost of the buses. The biggest fundraiser, however, was the
chocolate selling. A great number of students took the opportunity to sell chocolates. In total, there
were over 1000 boxes sold. That is an average of well over $200 per student. Some students sold
enough chocolates to pay for their entire course costs and this is a great credit to their initiative.
Now that the fundraising has come to a close, we are able to let you know that the final payment is
$150. The three instalments have been the $100 deposit, then instalment 2 of $400 and now this
final instalment of $150. Money raised from the chocolate selling of course should have banked
towards these instalments. I understand that some students still have their chocolate money at
home. It is time to get that money paid off the course at the school office. A reminder, please
change large amounts of coins into notes before paying at the school office to save the office staff
We ask that all students complete all their payments by Friday 29th August.
All students attending an Outward Bound course are required to complete the medical form that
accompanies this bulletin.
We ask that these medical forms be returned by Friday 19th September, 2008.
We then pass these on to Outward Bound Australia to examine and address any issues well before
the course date.
A general reminder to all students that the list of things that you need to take is in the yellow
information booklet that was distributed during Term 2. Anyone who has mislaid their copy of the
booklet can view it on the school website. Just follow the Outward Bound link on the home page.
This is the fifth year that Outward Bound courses have run at Albury High School. It is possible
that you may be able to borrow jackets, boots and old clothes from previous course participants to
save the expense of buying new. Just ask around.
Ray’s Outdoor’s in Kiewa Street have been long term supporters of our Outward Bound course.
They are again offering Outward Bound students great specials particularly on waterproof jackets,
thermals and walking boots.
SPORT DURING TERM 4
As in previous years, during Term 4 the students going on the Outward Bound course will be
meeting as a sport group each Tuesday. This gives us the opportunity to give out information at a
weekly meeting, wear in walking boots, and to prepare physically by walking up on Nail Can.
