Yoga and Meditation with Eileen Hall and Chris Dorje Walker
Change your mind – change your world

This Retreat, for beginners’ level Yoga and meditation practice, brings together two formidable Australian talents.
Eileen Hall has spent many years in India studying with both Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, master of the Ashtanga method, and
BKS Iyengar. Chris Dorje Walker trained as a Buddhist Monk in his 20's and has mastered the integration of eastern
practice with the western mind. His approach using meditation for self-regulation creates a truly adaptable practice
for modern stress-free living. Incorporating Qi Gong and Body Orientated Psychotherapy into his work, Chris has
worked with 1000's of people all over the world, helping them to still the mind, calm their emotions and balance
their bodies.

Featuring four hours of practice daily, this double bill in the ‘Kingdom of Happiness’ presents a one-off opportunity
to connect with the deeper powers of Yoga and meditation in an all-Buddhist land. In Bhutan, both disciplines form
part of everyday life; combined with the breathtaking landscapes, remote monasteries, joyful monks and colourful
local people, Retreat guests will find themselves moved by the power of integrated daily practice in a uniquely
affecting way.

Eileen will lead morning sessions instructing and guiding Retreat guests through a two-hour practice to move,
breathe and open up the body (the class can be adapted for more advanced students). Students will learn the
benefits of flow-based movements. Afternoon meditation sessions, led by Chris, will be more restorative,
encouraging the mind to slow down and reflect, creating a renewed sense of calm. Some sessions will take place in
the local monasteries and prayer halls, including Bhutan’s famous Tiger’s Nest.

Facilitators:

Eileen Hall is one of the world’s most renowned Ashtanga yoga
                                           instructors.

Having practiced yoga for almost 30 years, Hall is credited with
introducing generations of Australians to the deeper, spiritual influences
of yoga. Her yoga journey began in the late 1970’s at 22 years of age. At
that time, yoga was not well known or understood, taught in cold church
halls to predominately female followers aged over fifty.

Despite this, the practice of yoga ignited a passionate interest in the
young Hall. Inspired to learn more about the deeper traditional meanings
and teachings that lie beneath the postures, Hall took every opportunity
to learn as much as she could about the practice in the years that followed.

In what has become her life’s work and focus, she has attended workshops, studied the ancient texts and travelled to
India numerous times in an effort to understand more of yoga’s mysteries.

In 1986, she became a certified teacher of Iyengar Yoga and soon became a senior instructor at the Shandors School
in Bondi Junction. She opened YogaMoves Studio in Paddington, Sydney in 1995 and only three years later became a
certified teacher of the Ashtanga method after meeting and making an immediate connection with Ashtanga Yoga
Master Sri K Pattabhi Jois.

In November 2003, Hall was diagnosed with breast cancer. Given the choice of chemotherapy or drug treatment,
Hall chose neither. Instead, she drew from her inner strength and embraced the yoga teachings learned over the
years to fight the disease. Hall’s approach worked - she is currently in remission and studying yoga in India.

As a body worker trained in Myo Therapy and Remedial Massage, Chi therapy and
Bio Dynamic body work is subtle and effects the nervous system and emotions very
powerfully to reestablish Homeostasis, balance and well being in the system.

The stress that Relationships, work, pressure of competing with others on an egoic
and mental level knocks people’s wellness into a state of Dis-ease. My life's work so
far has been to heal this in myself and support others to achieve the same.

I am dedicated to the wellness of others and myself in a genuine way. We need to navigate thinking, feeling and
come to peace with our being to live well in this modern world. I understand many people are trying to live well, and
this is their hope but unfortunately many don't really understand how to do this.
Most people these days are interested in being Happy and Well, ultimately this is a simple process once you know
what needs to be done but can be confusing to apply to this modern complex world we live in with out guidance and
support.
