Banned Breeds
Banned breeds include (i) American Pit bull Terrier (ii) Dogo Argentino (iii) Fila Brasileiro (iv) Japanese Tosa or any crossbreed of a
dog of breed mentioned above.

Registration
     •   All dogs over the age of 3 months must be registered with Council
     •   Dogs must wear their registration tags at all times
     •   All animals (including dogs & cats) must be properly enclosed on the keeper’s property
     •   Registration is valid for 12 months from date of registration
     •   Fees subject to annual review
     •   BPay is not available for new registrations

Refunds: No refunds on concessional registrations. Pro rata refunds are available on full registration fee, less administration fee.

Impounding Details
Impounded animals are held at the Council’s Pound and RSPCA facility at Goodwin Road, Dakabin and release fees apply. Phone
3886 0357.

Hours of Operation are:             Monday to Friday                     8.30am to 4.30pm
                                    Saturday and Sunday                  9.00am to 4.00pm
                                    Public Holidays                      Closed
Permits
A permit system has been introduced which enables Council to consider and approve, where appropriate, the keeping of a type or
number of animals that would normally be outside the scope of the Local Law. It is essential that an application be made and
Council approval obtained before any such animal/s are kept on the property.

A permit is required under the following circumstances:

     •

         One (1) dog on any allotment 300m or less in area
     •   More than one (1) dog per dwelling unit within a group title
     •

         More than one (1) dog on any allotment greater than 300m in area but less than 600m
     •

         More than two (2) dogs on an allotment greater that 600m but less than 2 hectares (20,000m )
     •

         More than four (4) dogs on an allotment of 2 hectares (20,000m ) or greater
     •   Animal breeding purposes
     •   Greyhounds* other than those assessed through the Greyhound Adoption Program
     •

         Guard dogs on commercial premises
     •   Keeping of more than six (6) dogs requires approval under the Pine Rivers Plan as a kennel

Notes
+    For the purpose of LL42, a guard dog is kept and registered as per a declared dangerous dog.

**   Relevant supporting information to be provided.

*    Greyhound Adoption program identification is to be sighted when the dogs are registered. For details of the Greyhound
     Adoption program visit www.greyhoundpets.org.au or phone the greyhound Racing Authority Qld (07) 3262 7800 or the GAP
     Co-ordinator on 0417 725 684. Pet greyhounds that have not come through the Greyhound Adoption Program may also be
     assessed and recorded by GAP.

     GAP greyhounds do not require muzzling but must wear their GAP identification collars at all times. All other greyhounds
     require muzzling and are subject to permit conditions as per racing greyhounds.
