Attention: Jolene DeVito

I am interested in a Sports Reporter/Anchor position in a top fifty market. Currently I am the
Sports Director at News 8 Austin (no longer under contract) and a Free Lance Reporter for FSN.

Since graduating from the University of Houston in 1991, I have been in the sports television
business for 17 years anchoring and reporting for various television stations in the state of Texas. I believe I
would be an asset in a top fifty market for the following reasons:

    1. I believe hard work is one of the main keys to success. I have a knack for strong live shots,
because I have a lot of creative energy and I am a strong story teller. I enjoy feature stories,
because that’s where true creative writing surfaces with the ability to tell the story with
passion. I believe one of the keys to commanding respect as a Sports Director is through
leadership qualities, which is something I have learned as a manager at News 8 Austin. I also
believe viewers pay more attention to anchors and reporters getting the scoops, which begins
with strong contacts through agents and working the phone lines. I believe good chemistry
amongst employees is very important for a pleasant working environment in sports. I have
been heavily involved in local sports my entire TV sports career. I enjoy writing and
producing feature stories as well as putting together post game wraps. I try to find irony and
humor in life when appropriate and enjoy showing the lighter side of sports as well.

    2. Although the University of Texas is our main priority at News 8 Austin, we travel to San
Antonio often to cover the NBA’s Spurs. We cover the Houston Astros from spring training
to the playoffs in Houston, because their Triple-A affiliate plays in the Austin market in
Round Rock. Football is still king in Texas and we cover the Houston Texans and Dallas
Cowboys almost like a home team, especially during training camp and during key games.
We travel with the Longhorns for the three main sports of football, basketball and baseball. I
am used to traveling efficiently and have been to nearly every major sports city in America. I
traveled with the Texas Rangers baseball team for nearly three years for a magazine style
show entitled Budweiser Rangers Report in the mid nineties.

    3. I am very creative when it comes to sports shows, but I’m always open to new ideas. Since I
became Sports Director in 2001 at News 8 Austin, we’ve added the following shows.
Longhorn Game Day Live, Longhorn Post Game Live, Mack Brown Weekly Press
Conference Live, Longhorn Sports Center, Texas/OU Red River Shootout , UT Baseball Road
to Omaha, Round Rock Express Review and the High School Blitz. I have strong work ethics
and our viewers have come to appreciate our complete sports coverage. We are airing two
minute updates for the August football camps including the Dallas Cowboys, Houston
Texans, Texas Longhorns, Texas A&M Aggies, Baylor Bears and Texas State Bobcats. We
air two minute profiles on the top 30 high school football programs in our viewing area.

In Conclusion, I feel very confident that I can become a part of any television station, because I
thoroughly understand sports. I know how to deliver the sports in a factual, yet conversational way with
good use of humor. I look forward to hearing from you soon and also encourage you to view more from my
demo reel at, which has two separate clips available for more viewing.
