Press Release Tuesday April 28 2009 Ground breaking online backup solution, Memory Box, representing SA in National iAwards Memory Box, an innovative, South Australian developed, community online backup solution, is a finalist in the 2009 National iAwards, Australia's leading ICT industry awards. Memory Box will be judged against other State winners after winning the SA state iAward in the ‘tools and infrastructure’ category. Memory Box provides an innovative solution to online backup by using a community of users on which parts of the backups are stored. It is the first system in Australia to use a community of networked computers to store backups rather than a single server in a data centre. Every year, one in 10 hard drives fail and 40% of computer users lose precious memories or hard work…yet many users still do not backup their files. Memory Box research showed this was often due to apathy and users seeing it as a time consuming hassle. The Memory Box solution solves this as it is automated and runs in the background of a user’s computer after a simple set up. Memory Box is in discussions with several ISP’s about utilizing the solution as an ‘add on’ service for users. As part of the State award prize, Memory Box also get to exhibit at CeBIT; Australia’s largest technology conference and exhibition, where they are lined up to discuss partnerships with a host of IT suppliers. Trevor Glen, Director of Memory Box, stated: “We are excited about representing SA in the National finals and about the opportunity to get this solution in front of key players at CeBIT. We know the technology is good and are keen to show it off.” The finals judging process will take place in Melbourne on the 29th and 30th of April 2009 and each category is judged on 5 criteria: Uniqueness Market Potential Functionality / Features Quality / Application of Technology Application Memory Box is up against other State winners some of which are global organisations with several hundred employees and millions of dollars in revenues. “It’s tough competition,” Trevor adds, “but sometimes the best innovations are the simplest. While Memory Box has significant complexity in its technical development, the end user experience is just what home and business users want from their backup solution: Simple, easy to use, automated and off site.” ENDS For more information, interviews or quotes contact Helen Soulsby on 0438 604616 or email@example.com Memory Box Backup Pty.
