   A psychological perspective that
   emphasises the study of the whole
                person.

Humanistic psychologists believe that:
 An individual‟s behaviour is primarily
  determined by his/her perception of the
  world around them
 Individual‟s are not solely the product of
  their environment
 Individuals are internally directed and
  motivated to fulfill their human potential

The humanistic movement in education:

 Approach based on the premise that
     students have a need to „self
       actualise‟ (Maslow 1954).

The basic objectives of humanistic
 education are to encourage students
 to:
   Be self-directed and independent
   Take responsibility for their learning
   Be creative and interested in the arts
   Be curious about the world around them

“A process in which individuals take the
  initiative, with or without the help of
  others” to diagnose their learning
  needs, formulate learning goals,
  identify resources for learning, select
  and implement learning strategies,
  and evaluate learning outcomes
