Waxing FAQ by fjhuangjun

									Waxing FAQ
What is a 'true' Brazilian wax?
Due to the over-popularised term 'Brazilian wax' it has lead to confusion as to what a 'Brazilian'
actually is. A true Brazilian is when the hair is clipped, the pubic line is bought down and the labia
and bottom are waxed, leaving a thin strip of hair at the front. The Brazilian wax was developed to
compliment the style of G-string's worn in Brazil.

What type of wax is used?
At Get Nailed by Janet I use a combination of hot wax and strip wax that has been specifically
formulated to remove hair effectively without pulling on the skin, making your wax as comfortable
as possible.

How long does it take?
I am trained in full body waxing and therefore am able to complete the ‘Brazilian’ treatment in
approximately 25 minutes.

What can influence the discomfort of my wax?
Many things can change the discomfort level of a wax. Influences such as fatigue, menstrual cycle
and medication can all be factors. It is recommended to wax approximately one week after a
menstrual cycle.

How often should I get waxed?
Get Nailed by Janet recommends that clients come in for a wax every 4-6 weeks. This will vary
depending on an individual’s hair growth cycle.

How long does the hair need to be?
Ideally the hair needs to be approximately 1cm long, please don’t cut hair before an appointment,
as I am equipped to clipper the hair to the right length.

I suffer from in grown hairs, how can I prevent this from happening?
It is recommended that an anti-bacterial skin wash, such as Tea Tree be used in the shower every
day. As the hairs start to grow back through the skin a strong loofah should be used with the
wash to exfoliate dead skin cells and help the hairs to break through. Skin can also be dry, so use
a lotion eg. Lavender, that does not clog pores, and has soothing and healing properties.

   • Don't loofah your skin until 3-5 days after your wax.
   • Don't loofah your skin every day. This dries up your natural oils from the skins surface
making it harder for the hairs to break through the skin.
   • Don't use natural loofah, bacteria thrive in natural fibres.
   • Don't apply deodorant until 24 hours after wax.
   • Don't apply make up directly after facial wax.
   • Don't have a solarium 24 hours before wax as you may burn.
   • Don't have a solarium or go out into the sun until 24 hours after wax.
   • Don't pick at ingrown hairs, it may cause scarring and look unappealing. Come in and have
       them removed professionally and hygienically.
   • Don't shave between waxing. This distorts the hair growth cycle.
   • Don't go to the gym or exercise directly after wax.
 • Don't swim in chlorinated pools or the beach until 24 hours after wax.
 • Don't wear tight or rubbing clothes after your wax as it may irritate the skin.
 • Don't wax just prior to, or just after menstrual cycle, as skin is more sensitive

Men’s Waxing
Get Nailed by Janet specialises in men’s body waxing, providing you with the finest
waxing treatment. I ensure the highest standards of professionalism are adhered to at
all times, and use the latest hygienic methods in accordance with NSW Health
regulations. I provide the following men’s waxing services; Brazilian, facials, leg, back,
        chest, nose and ear waxing.

Why have a Men’s Body wax?

Waxing is no longer just for the girls! Many men now opt to avoid the itchy and
unsightly five o’clock shadow, going for a longer-lasting, smoother solution instead.
Waxing is also perfect for removing chest, back and shoulder hair, as well as pubic hair.
Some men are even going for the ultimate smooth look – the male Brazilian!

If you’re new to the world of waxing and aren’t sure what to expect, here’s a step-by-
step guide to waxing beneath the boxers.

Be clean and freshly showered. Your skin should also be free of any lotion (you'll get
better results if your skin is less oily).

The hair you wish to remove should be at least 6-7 millimetres in length, making it long
enough to lie flat on your skin. So don't shave for at least two weeks before your
appointment, or your hair won’t be long enough. On the other end of the spectrum, if
you've let things go a bit down there down there, don't worry – it can be trimmed to the
        proper length before your wax.

If possible, wear loose clothing on the day of your appointment, to prevent irritation
        after your wax.

What should I expect with men’s body waxing?

You might feel embarrassed or nervous before your first wax, but you really have
nothing to be worried about. I am friendly, experienced and know how to put you at
        your ease.
You’ll be asked to remove your underwear in the treatment room. By doing this you’ll be
protecting your clothing as well as making the whole process quicker and easier.
Your hair will be examined to determine what goes, and what stays, and trim as
The main concern people have regarding the Brazilian is – does it hurt? This can depend
on a few things – how sensitive your skin is, and how strong your pubic hair is. But
usually it’s all over so quickly you’ll barely feel a thing. I use a hot, non-strip wax
designed especially for more sensitive skin that’s applied directly to the hair, then
quickly removed after it’s cooled. When the wax is over, a soothing lotion will be
applied, and you will be advised on after-care to minimise any problems with redness or
in-grown hairs.

Yes, and it's much better than a tweezing one hair at a time - ouch! A small amount of
soft wax is applied just in the front of the nostril or ear lobe and, once the hair is
engaged, there’s a quick flick of the wrist and it’s all done.

If you have any other questions or concerns regarding waxing, or any of my other
treatments, please don’t hesitate to contact me, I am more than happy to help you out
