Welcome to the Giants! We are going to have a great
baseball season filled with excitement and fun, while
learning and improving as players, coaches and fans.
Attached is a copy of our team roster, practice and game schedules. We
may add other practice sessions or scrimmages; we’ll let you know as
plans develop. Official games start Saturday, April 26th.
We are happy to commit a lot of our time to make this a great experience. In
return, our expectation is that every player will participate in all practices
and games. We encourage parent participation at home and on the field. If
a player must be absent we ask that you please notify us by phone or e-mail
as far in advance as possible so that we can properly adjust our lineup or
Please assume that all practice sessions and games will take place as
scheduled. We will notify you by telephone if weather forces us to cancel.
Since games are cancelled due to weather only 15 minutes after the
scheduled starting time, it is vitally important that all players be present at
starting time regardless of weather in order to avoid the possibility of

It is the responsibility of the team, coaches, players and fans to be sure that
the field is left in clean condition.
Players must bring their own gloves. We advise leather gloves of medium
size. It is strongly recommended that you wear rubber baseball cleats (no
metal) and an athletic supporter with a metal or plastic protective cup. The
latter is a requirement for catchers.
The league does not supply bats; therefore, you may want to bring your
own. It is important to use a bat sized properly for the player. Sporting
goods stores usually have charts providing some guidance.
It is suggested that players bring their own water bottle (marked clearly with
their name) to each practice/game.
In Pony League we will play competitive baseball and try hard to win, but we
will do this with fairness and good sportsmanship at all times. Players,
coaches, parents and other fans must always treat our opponents, their
fans and the umpires with respect. This is one of the hallmarks of Franklin
Baseball. Please remember that all of the people involved are our
neighbors, classmates and friends.
There will be 9 players on the field and everyone on the team will bat.
Lineups will be organized to favor fielding a competitive team. During the
course of the season, players will have a chance for game experience at
several positions. However, by the time they reach Pony League most
players begin to concentrate on one or two favorite positions. In our
practice sessions, all players will have a chance to play every position. We
cannot over-emphasize the importance of practice, both with the team and
one-on-one with parents and friends, in improving baseball skills.
Uniforms will be distributed at the first practice. We ask you to bring $5.00
to cover the cost of lettering player names on the back of the jersey. There
will be a pants exchange day at which you may exchange pants for a
different size. We’ll let you know the date and time as soon as its
Opening Day is Saturday, April 26th and we will be assigned a time for team
photos – details to follow.
Please feel free to call the coaches with questions or comments at any time.
