I have pleasure in reporting another successful year for our Consultancy Stores. These stores
are not ALPA-owned but are managed under ALPA’s consultancy service, Australian Retail
Consultants. They are owned by community councils, corporations or associations. Our
commitment to these stores is:
To provide a better range of products and services, at the best possible prices,
employing and training local staff, whilst returning profits to the appropriate local
    authority or traditional owners.
When Australian Retail Consultants manages a store, we liaise with the community
representatives to ensure their input is valued, and requirements and expectations are met.
Australian Retail Consultants is paid a fee for managing the store, and works with appointed
representatives to decide how profits are best used to benefit the whole community.
Our consultancy stores are widely spread across the Top End of Australia from near the
Northern Territory/Queensland border to WA’s Kimberley region. Store management teams at
the end of this financial year were:
 • Ajurumu Self Service Store, South Goulburn Island NT, managed by Chris and
     Margaret Jacobson.
 • Alawa Store, Hodgson Downs NT, managed by Julien Sedgman.
 • Beagle Bay Store, Beagle Bay WA, managed by Robin and Shirley Tucker.
 • Bullocky Shop, Ramingining NT, managed by Colin and Margaret Searle.
 • Kalkaringi Service Station, Kalkaringi NT managed by Wally Everett and Rhonda
     Burton.
 • Mikbamurra Store, Umbakumba, Groote Eylandt NT, managed by Alan and Bev
     Kemble.
 • Robinson River Store, Robinson River NT, managed by Dave Canty.

Once again we must thank all our clients for their continued support throughout the year as we
have worked together to meet the changing needs of their communities.

The consultancy stores continue to benefit from ALPA’s group trading terms and promotional
activity with suppliers. In particular our marketing department has focused on store range and
new line opportunities. This has resulted in a vast improvement in the range of goods offered to
customers.

As with most organisations staff leave us. We also have a policy of moving managers from
time to time within the ALPA group to give managers a new challenge and keep them fresh.
This has resulted in some new faces in the consultancy stores. I would like to take this
opportunity to welcome the new managers to the team and thank the outgoing managers for
their efforts over the past year.

The success of all the stores is aided by our Relief Management team, who work very hard
moving from one store to the next living out of a suit case. They make it possible for managers
to take their well-earned breaks with the knowledge that the stores are in capable hands. All
our Relief Managers are capable retailers with proven management experience. We appreciate
their efforts and offer our thanks.
We continue to build on the very experienced and successful team of store and relief managers.
This enables us to offer a better service to communities and any retail business that require the
services we have to offer. This, with the supervision and support provided by Darwin office
staff, completes an excellent package for our current and future clients.
