Upon application, permits are issued from Park & Recreation/Developed Regional Parks Permit Center for a period of one calendar year and expire on March 1st of each year. Renewal payments received after the first day of March are delinquent. Permits will be revoked and the spaces reassigned when renewal fees are received after the deadline. All check payments should be made payable to “CITY TREASURER.” Fees are those set forth in the current fee schedule and are available from the Developed Regional Parks Permit Center at 2125 Park Boulevard, San Diego, CA 92101. Incomplete applications will not be processed and returned to applicant. TRANSFERBILITY: Boat Beaching spaces and the required permits are not transferable (SDMC 63.25.29 (b). The total permit space allowed in Mission Bay Park is set at a maximum level and will be limited by the San Diego Lifeguard Service to assure optimum use of the areas (based on available space and the sizes of the vessels at each location). CANCELLATIONS: Boat Beaching Permits may be cancelled at any time by Park & Recreation and/or the San Diego Lifeguard Service by giving five (5) days written notice to the permit-holder. Upon cancellation, the vessel must be removed immediately or it will be impounded by the Boating Safety Unit and fees charged for such impounding and storage. ELIGIBILITY: Both residents and non-residents of the City of San Diego are eligible for a Boat Beaching Permit; however, fees are higher for non-residents. Proof of ownership/residence will be required, using one of the following: Property Tax Bill, Utility Bill, or Rental Agreement (on business letterhead). (P.O. Boxes are not valid for the purpose of residence.) No more than one permit will be issued to any family. VESSELS: Each applicant must own the vessel named in the permit pursuant to the registration requirements in the California Vehicle Code. All vessels must maintain current registration and submit a copy with the permit renewal EACH YEAR. All vessels must display current registration stickers and permit stickers on the starboard bow (right front) side of vessel. Permit stickers will not be released until current registration is on file. The City requires all vessels on City regulated Beach Bars to be registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles. Based on this requirement, DMV will register your vessel. Only one vessel is allowed on a permit. VESSEL LIMITATIONS: The maximum length permitted for a vessel on a Boat Beaching Bar is fourteen (14) feet or less (length over all) with a maximum width of eight (8) feet. Permits will only be issued for power or sailing vessels which are in a good condition and seaworthy. Park & Recreation and the San Diego Lifeguard Service reserves the right to inspect all vessels at the Boat Beaching Bars, and any vessels deemed to be in a dilapidated, poorly maintained or unseaworthy condition must be repaired, removed or replaced within thirty (30) days after notice by Park & Recreation or the San Diego Lifeguard Service. All vessels with masts must have them rigged and in place. Trampolines on catamarans must not be torn or ripped. Vessels must not hold any standing water while stored on beach bars. PERMITS WILL NOT BE ISSUED FOR RAFTS, FLOATS, TRAILERS, LAUNCHING DEVICES, BOXES OR OTHER SIMILAR ITEMS, NOR ARE THESE ITEMS ALLOWED TO BE STORED AT BOAT BEACHING BARS. GENERAL RULES: Issued “MISSON BAY PARK BOAT BEACHING PERMIT” stickers must be securely attached and plainly visible on the starboard bow side (right front) of the vessel. All previous years stickers must be removed. Catamarans must place the permit sticker on the outside of the starboard bow (right front) boat hull. The permit stickers must be maintained complete and legible at all times; and should be placed on the vessel no later than March 1st. Vessels not in use must be chained and locked to the Boat Beaching Bar by means of a galvanized steel chain or steel cable (minimum ¼ inch thickness) mounted through the stem of the boat. No specific space is assigned to a vessel at a Boat Beach Bar, (first-come, first-served basis). Vessels must be kept at their assigned Boat Beaching Bar only, and may not use any other location. Park & Recreation and the San Diego Lifeguard Service reserves the right to move and/or impound any vessels that do not conform to the specifications and rules set forth herein, and to charge fees for such moving and/or impounding. Unclaimed vessels will be sold or destroyed. The Permit owner will be responsible for the payment of destruction and/or processing fees. We also reserve the right to revoke any permit for any violation of law or the rules and regulations; and the owner of any vessel in violation of any applicable laws may be held liable for prosecution. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: All permittees shall comply with San Diego Municipal Code Section 43.03 Storm Water Management Discharge Control, and any and all Best Management Practice guidelines and pollution elimination requirements.
